Most people wouldn't think coming out of a vacation with a detention was a success, but most people weren't Cade or Sparkle.

Cade still missed that stupid karking camel, though. They'd had a connection (not really--he just didn't like being told no).

Cade was at his job, though if you thought you'd get him to do anything but bitch about how mean Kaidan and Jaina were, you didn't know Cade very well.

Hanna was kind of in a daze at work today. She wanted to be home with her mom. At the same time, she needed to be away from her latest secret. If she didn't have to see it, she didn't have to think about it. She checked out a few days ago.

Even being around all this fashion and shoes couldn't cheer her up. She could help customers, though, if she had to.

And just like that everyone had come back. Hurray?

While other businesses might have things prepared to receive the returning students and (allegedly) responsible adults, Alice had no idea of what her particular store could do. So when she had arrived, Alice set to work on some kind of sign that would attract customers. Because even someone with Alice's social skills felt like having a chat about guns once or twice. She had counted.

Half an hour into her work Alice realized it was pretty much impossible to write a sign that didn't invite young people to buy guns. It wasn't as if she were about to offer them yoga classes after all.

Sighing, Alice decided to keep trying. She had a whole notebook and enough cheap pens to write the whole day. She didn't know if she was being productive, but at least she wasn't bored to death.

But the store was open!
