"This week," Jono said without preamble as he stepped up onto the stage, "we'll be playing a came called 'Crisis Situation.' It's a short game, so you might want to run through it a few times, in fact. Two people get up on the stage, and each announce a problem you have. And then, in as short a time as possible, the other person has to come up with a solution for you."

He also liked to think of this one as 'last Friday night revisited.'

"Person one might complain that their mother has bee pressuring them to find a husband and start having children, while person two might complain that they've not been feeling well these past few days. Person one, then, would chime in announcing that they're a doctor. Person two, in turn? Would say, 'Marry me!' Both problems solved, if perhaps one of them is somewhat unconventionally done, in less than four lines."

No, really, he wished he had run this one with his actors before the show last week. He really did.

"Get to it."

"Look," Priestly said. "I know I said you could do some decorating in here, but that teal deer statue has got to go. I swear, wherever I stand in the dining room, it's somehow still staring at me."

The cook stared at him, frowning. "What teal deer statue?"

". . . The one with the reporter's notebook in its mouth?" Priestly tried. The cook slowly shook his head. "Oh come on!" Priestly threw his hands in the air. "We haven't even been talking that much, today!"

Natalie had finally gotten her bow after the break week trip. She'd even taken the time to practice since then, if handwavily. But this was the first time she'd decided to actually go outside and out in the preserve for a while.

She'd found herself a quiet clearing (although a squirrel had chittered pretty vehemently at her from a tree she'd passed at one point) to practice in, where she was unlikely to hit anyone or anything when some (if not most) of her arrows missed the tree she was using to hold up her simple piece of paper of a target. Failure was fine. She knew she'd get better with time, and it felt like that was about all she had. At least until graduation. And she wasn't thinking about graduation. She was thinking about nocking the arrows, remembering to breathe right, and lining up her shots. It was like when she was at the piano. Other things fell away. Her head was clear.

She found she quite liked it out here. And when a few back to back arrows actually hit the target, she liked it even more.

Kenzi was in no shape for work, really. But after a long, long shower, and changing into better clothes than a couple aprons and a t-shirt, she decided what she really needed was a drink.

"What do you mean, the rum's gone?!"
