Today, the horrors of having to run government were tempered by a very large bucket of burgers that someone had kindly delivered to Town Hall in the morning. Ron had refused to touch said burgers until his assistant had broken down and admitted she had bought them in hopes of pacifying him.

He did love his meat, but not if it came to him via government surveillance. Speaking of which...

"You have swept the office for NSA wiretaps," he said.

"I think they're mostly internet now, sir," his assistant answered respectfully.

Ron eyed his computer. "Well, I never use that... throw the computer out anyway."

His assistant sighed, paced back into her office, and placed another order for steak.

Between the trauma of last week (though at least she could say she'd only ever killed one student!), Derek being mad at her, the fact that Doctor freaking Doom was hanging around, and her own issues, Kitty's blah mood hadn't really gone away. She could ignore it it she was busy, but it wasn't easy to do when things got quiet, and she was wondering if it would be crossing a line/freak him out if she showed up at Clint's place with a bag and said she was sleeping there for a week.

So she was glad to be at work tonight, in leather pants because even if it was hot out they made her feel badass, and watching Whose Wedding Is It Anyway on Netflix with Tino on his phone whenever she wasn't busy. Shut up, okay, once you'd seen a bride console a sobbing male wedding planner by telling him he'd ruin his makeup, you'd be hooked too.

Fandom Post Office, Tuesday, September 3

The last time Éponine brought her cat in to work with her resulted in several magazines shredded beyond hope, and pieces of paper they were still finding under the counter and in corners today. Despite that she'd been considering doing it again, but Alouette had been particularly rambunctious this morning and Éponine would much rather she rampage around at home, where there weren't as many things to knock over and more space anyhow.

An electronics catalog had been returned as undeliverable this morning, and -- still a bit fixated on this new idea of taking online classes, or at least figuring out how the hell to use the computer to do so -- she was flipping through it, looking at prices on computers.

There was a lot of half-muttered swearing coming from her side of the counter, needless to say.

If Mary looked a little tired, she had a good reason. Her night auditor failed to show up Monday night. So Mary had worked overnight to do the audit and was now working a double shift at the front desk. She was gulping down coffee and counting down the minutes until she could head back to her suite for some much-needed sleep.
