Rosalind would be surprised at Fandom's peculiar insistence on strange occurrences except for the fact that she'd gone through this before and was rather resigned instead.

It wasn't so bad today anyway, since the… marzipan… was falling outside. It could do that all it wanted. She was going to stay inside, nice and cozy, with coffee and books.

The shop was open and there was a sign outside that said:

Now hiring! Apply inside!

And if anyone got marzipan inside her store, she was going to make them clean it up. Just try her.

Sheila wasn't especially observant or anything -- hell, she'd helped Monarch decorate his Christmas tree -- but she did have a menorah in the window. It made her feel like she wasn't such a bad nonobservant Jew.

Anyone who realized it was the last day of Hanukkah was getting some chocolate gelt. Maybe anyone who checked out, regardless. How else was she going to get rid of the things? She had like a full bag here, and they went straight to her thighs.

The sign on the door as always read

"Marzipan damage is not something the Fandom Sheriff's Department deals with," Tamsin said, tucking the phone in under her cheek. "You have to take that up with..."

"... I don't care who," she concluded. She reached up and pulled a piece of marzipan out of her hair, chucking at the bin. "Not my job."

"In fact, if you call here again with anything that isn't directly police business, I'm going to come to your house and--" Beat. "No, you can't call us about that either. Ugh."

She chucked the phone at Ralph. "You deal with it."

Ralph ignored her; he kept munching on the marzipan instead.

A couple in their early forties came by today, looking to plan a week-long Christmas vacation for them and their small children in a gingerbread cabin in the woods.

"Yes, I'm sure we can work that out," Sam promised right away as she got around to working out the details. "Just caution the children against wandering through the forest and snacking on the walls of the other cabins, eh? We wouldn't want you coming back just the two of you."

...She didn't end up making that sale, as it turned out.
