She had two employees now, which meant that Rosalind took a long glance at her sign before shrugging slightly and leaving it up. Two employees were all well and good but she didn't want to discourage anyone who might want to come in for a job.

Besides, if she wanted to change her mind about the sign later… who was going to stop her?

The books, and the shop itself, were mercifully behaving themselves today so Rosalind could be found reading, when she wasn't helping customers.

The shop was open and there was a sign outside that said:

Now hiring! Apply inside!

The wall of the MST3k theater facing Loon Drive looked an awful lot older this morning. Not only that, but it was oddly illuminated by a cloud of floating LEDs in various colors. The cloud did not seem to be physically attached to anything.

The odd discordant note floated outwards from the building.

Most striking, though, was the sudden appearance of bold, screaming graffiti.

WE WILL NEVER GIVE IN.

At precisely 9:30 AM, it returned to normal.

A sign appeared on the counter proclaiming a small part of the store to be HankCo. Super World. Mike wasn't able to move it no matter how hard he tried. It was like the cabbage vendor all over again.

Apu dropped his mop when he saw the sign, and Bob rolled her eyes extra hard at it. Whatever. Mike grabbed a towel from the bed & bath aisle and threw it over the sign. Problem solved.

A few minutes later, the sign was gone.

In the window, there were other, less creepy signs:

"Look, I told you guys, I didn't abandon the diner. I have a tendency to get shot when weapons start showing up, so I decided to skip past all the weird stuff and go visit Dinah for awhile. And then, you know, the holidays and all that happened and I just got busy, okay?"

The kitchen staff did not look impressed by this explanation. Priestly sighed, rubbing his forehead. "I've been back for, like, two weeks, guys, can we get over this, already?"

The kitchen staff exchanged looks, then huddled together to mutter amongst themselves. Priestly was 99.6% sure they were just saying "peas and carrots" over and over to make it look like they had to hash this out.

"Okay," Cookie said finally. "But you owe us an ice cream party."

"It's, like, freezing outside."

The cook raised an eyebrow.
