It wasn’t like her dorm room was terrible or anything but sometimes Karina actually felt like patronizing one of the stores on the island for reasons more than ragging on Sparkle, who never seemed to mind anyway. Besides, her room wasn’t really all that interesting to spend all her time in and it didn’t have delicious apple cider a mere few steps away, should she run out and need more.

So Karina had figured that, hey, the Perk was as good as any place to spend a few hours. She had her drink, and a cinnamon bun, just in case she got hungry, and her laptop with her as she worked through the vagaries of her latest song.

The baristas could just suck it up and cope when she hummed a few bars now and then.

Right, then. Jono had been putting this off long enough, making the transition from one job to another, one apartment to another. Today, he decided, was going to be the day he actually did his damn job and opened the Groovy Tunes for the first time since he'd been a student on the island. He'd done a few extra rounds of the shop that morning, made certain everything was in place, went rummaging through the desk and found a Radiohead CD he used to play tirelessly back in the day, and put that on the stereo. He'd dusted. He was pretty sure he hadn't even done that back when he was just a manager, rather than the shop's owner.

And, probably more important still, he stuck a sign in the window.

Now Hiring!
No Experience Necessary

... This felt eerily like high school all over again.

[OOC: The music store is open! And OCD-free! I'll do a Groovy Tunes infopost sometime, probably later today.]

Somebody on the island wasn't too clear on the difference between a blender and a stand mixer when it came to making bread dough -- or so Victor was left to conclude from the burnt-out blender he spent most of the morning working on. Replacing the motor was a snap, but the thing still had dried-out bread dough all over the blades that Victor eventually resorted to prying off with his fingernails.

Some days, his job was thrilling.

[OOC: Open repair shop. Look, I remembered to post this week!]

Kenzi had managed (just barely) to talk Cookie into Lithuanian pretzels, after last week's song-a-thon. So those were on the menu today. Plus, yesterday's expedition into the freezer had brought back the right kinds of chocolate and milk for that dessert that she'd promised 'Ponine. So the Specials board was eclectic today. Well. More so than usual.

SPECIALS
Piršteliai prie alaus
Huevos Rancheros
Philly Cheese Steak
French Chocolate Pots de Creme with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles
French Double Chocolate Mousse Cake

Jake was feeling a bit scruffy today- well, scruffier than usual. This was due to the fact that when he'd stumbled to the bathroom for a shower, he'd found the usual fixtures replaced by something that looked straight out of a science fiction novel.

He'd decided he didn't trust it, and let it be. His regular shower was back shortly before he'd had to leave for work, but by then there hadn't been time, so.

There was a Jake. There was a judgemental-looking Tino. There was, as usual on Jake's nights during hockey season, a hockey game on TV.

It would seem that the DJ was biding his time for some sort of new torment because everything was normal in the bar. Disturbingly normal.

Normal enough that even Tiny was a little on edge. Damn Fandom had ruined everyone's expectations.

Which was why Derek was looking deeply suspicious as he stood behind the bar. Yeah, that was totally the reason.
