Celia drifted in early today, coming pretty much straight from class, and decided to put forth some time today looking at magical ingredients.

Just because she had never used any -- except for a base to build from when conjuring details -- didn't mean such things didn't have a purpose. Papa always said to make people believe that what they were seeing was a trick. Maybe some vaguely-mystical dust flung into the air would help, once she had to return home and start practicing in front of non-believers again.

The Magic Box was open, all the same.

Tino was apparently looking ahead to summer- and Kitty couldn't exactly blame him, as winter had sucked really hard- and had brought in a book of tropical drink recipes. Which meant today would be the day they tested them out in case anything was worth putting up as a special later.

Fandom Post Office, April 8 (Tuesday)

An offhanded remark by a customer along her mail route this week had put the idea into Éponine's head to try her hand at writing. She clearly had a lot of imagination, the person had said, so maybe she should try writing down all those ideas to preserve them.

To be entirely fair, the comment had been a very diplomatic attempt to get her to stop rambling and go back to delivering mail. Éponine strongly suspected this was the case, but thought it was a good idea anyway, so she'd swiped a wirebound notebook from a drawer somewhere in the office (old, and yellowing around the edges of the pages, but otherwise unused) and promptly appropriated it for her own use.

What? No one else was using it. Why waste it?

As it turned out, this writing thing was harder than it looked -- at least, it was for a girl who'd only ever learned to write for strictly functional purposes. There was a big difference between scrawling succinct warning notes and coming up with enough words to properly explain what was going on in her head. It was frustrating, and made her once again resent how much of an education she'd missed.

As the day went on, the number of crumpled wads of paper on the floor was just going to slowly but steadily increase.

Bay finally had full use of her right hand again, so today was pretty much the best day of her life. She was celebrating by trying to juggle everything at hand in the kitchen. She started with two apples, then three oranges, then reached for three of the next vaguely spherical object she spotted.

"Okay," she muttered as she went for the mop. "Possibly I shouldn't have switched to eggs..."
