Rosalind's headache from last week wasn't really better, but she was a little livelier in taking care of the shop and putting things in order today. Wryly, she thought, she was getting used to the headache.

Which probably wasn't a good thing, everything considered.

Except that as long as she could do her job (and she could), and since she was learning to think around the headache, there didn't seem to be much point in worrying about it further. For all she knew, it was the island being cruel for some unfathomable reason.

The shop was open and there was a sign outside that read:

Now hiring! Apply inside!

So, okay, Kenzi had seen some movie over the weekend with flaming cocktails and people throwing drinks shakers around.

It was making for some interesting moments, and Tino hanging on to that fire extinguisher like his life depended on it.

Will had spent most of the weekend locked up in his room, emailing back and forth with Ajay. The summer session was rapidly ending here and there, it was actually approaching so Will knew that he'd have to get home soon even if the headmaster wasn't going to extend an invite. Mr. Hobbes wasn't here, he was there and Will didn't want to keep idle any longer.

They'd hatched a plan or two, one that involved everyone and one that involved everyone but Brooke since no one knew what was even going on with her right now. It kind of made Will sad to lose contact with her but he wasn't sure what else he could do.

Today, he'd taken his daily run and ended up on the beach. It was too chilly to go for a swim but that didn't stop Will from kicking off his shoes and rolling his pants up so he could wade in. The chill shot through his limbs and made him shiver. But, he was definitely awake now. Once he got to about calf deep, he turned around and faced the sand and the shore again.

Seemed like a good time to practice a few things so Will brought up his grid, scanning the beach for any warm spots or signs of life. Right now, it looked empty. He kept the grid up while he used his telekinesis to focus on single grains of sand with his mind. He pictured them and then lifted them, concentrating hard to make sure he got the exact grain that he wanted. Soon enough, he was sweating but he kept going.

It really hadn't taken that much work before Hatter had the keys to a brand new business. If he'd thought about it too much, he might have grown suspicious about the ease in which he actually acquired the shop but Hatter wasn't going to think about it. He still couldn't get off the island, still had no idea where the Looking Glass had disappeared to and still hadn't heard from Alice so he had enough to think about, thank you.

Cafe Fina, for its part, was a great distraction. The interior was a mess of dust and mothballs which Hatter was just not going to stand for. He'd opened the door to let some fresh air inside and was pulling sheets and other various coverings off the chairs and tables so he could see what he was working with.

"Not bad, not bad," he mumbled thoughtfully. "There's not a lot of color here but it could be worse. We'll just have to make this place a little more lively before everything opens up."

The kitchen was much bigger than he was used to and that pleased him. "Good size, good space. This'll do. Maybe hire a person or two, put them back here and voila! Instant attraction for this tiny, tiny town."

Hatter found his way back out into the cafe's interior and went to work taking pictures and other garish knick knacks off the wall, tossing them haphazardly out the door of the restaurant. He'd clean those up later.

Every so often, he sneezed which sent his hat tumbling. Hatter just tipped back onto his head and went back to work.

[Open post, of course. The business isn't open yet but feel free to avoid getting hit by things coming out the door or just exploring the inside.]

Tiny and the DJ had decided this was "games night" at the Devil's Nest. Because they were Tiny and the DJ and this was Fandom, that meant something rather unique: Tapes of a Quidditch world cup played on the TVs at the bar, and a different vintage board game had been placed atop every table. As for the bar, that was taken up with a giant dominoes pathway.

Jack wasn't quite sure how he was supposed to serve drinks without knocking it over, but he resolved to do his best.
