If anyone was curious as to why there were scorch marks along the floor at Freedom Arms, it was because a gremlin had been stupid enough to pop out of nowhere while an ex-Peacekeeper with a pulse pistol and a hair trigger was working.

It was gone now.

Book Haven, Wednesday, 6/18

Alana spent most of her morning trying to unpack a single box of books. It wasn't because she was slow or lazy; it was because the books really didn't want to be unpacked, and kept clinging to the sides of the box and to each other as she tried to lift them up. And then when she finally managed to pry one loose, half the time it immediately heated to an unbearable temperature.

She found some rubber gloves from the cleaning supplies and used those to hold and shelf the books, cursing the whole time. She could have quit, but she didn't want to be defeated by books.

Jake had a problem.

A tiny umbrella problem.

The little paper decorations were something of a regular fixture in the bar, because there were a number of tropical-themed drinks that called for them as decoration, but today?

Today they were in every drink. Without having to be put there.

Which Jake discovered as he attempted to take a swig from his beer bottle only to get himself stabbed in the mouth with the pointy tip of a paper umbrella.

Elsa hadn't slept terribly well last night. It was odd, being back in her own trampoline bed, not curled up next to Eleanor in bear form or anything like that. Getting used to not touching people was going to be an adjustment all over again.

But at least she had work to distract her, today. There was an assortment of crystals in today, and she was trying to properly identify them so that she could put them out on display. The quartz was easy enough, and the amethyst. She had no idea what to make of a few of the rarer ones. Grandiderite? Poudretteite? Serendibite?

What? What were they supposed to do?

So, there had been bets with the kitchen crew about some of the food that had been thawing out. There had been claims of iron stomachs.

It was almost officially summer, it'd been a while since anything big had happened, and Kitty was sure she wasn't the only person in need of distractions lately. So almost on a whim when she was bored at work, she printed up a few posters and started putting them up when she left the office.
