That silliness last weekend wasn't exactly the last straw, but it was a convenient excuse. Bruce needed to return to Gotham City. Gotham had been without its Dark Knight for far too long now, and Baruch was convinced that Fandom was in good hands, both in terms of protecting its inhabitants and spending his money. Furthermore, his allies back in Gotham had surely become more self-reliant, so his return would only help things there.

And so he decided to go out the way Bruce Wayne must: by renting out Caritas for a going away party for himself. Signs went up around town.

Maddie was mere days away from her eighteenth birthday, which meant she was mere days away from being able to go back to Avengers Academy without being a powerless liability, and she was more excited about it than she wanted to admit. Her last days here were being spent packing up, shipping stuff off, and donating anything she didn't want to take along to California.

Today's assignment: finish her last day of work. She had no idea how she'd managed to accumulate so much stuff in the months she'd been working here, but it seemed neverending. Or it was possible Fandom was having an off day and filling her desk drawers with endless office supplies.

The Perk, Wednesday Afternoon

After being at the carnival on Saturday, Kira had booked the first portal home and followed Derek's advice by talking to her mother. Having her dad explain the birds and the bees hadn't been as awkward as the kitsune conversation, and Kira was almost grateful that she had the excuse of "finals" to get back to Fandom quickly. Driving bumper cars around wasn't exactly a typical final, but it was better than sitting in her house knowing that there were probably more things her mother wasn't telling her.

Now that she was done with her workshop for the day, she was looking for more distractions, and an iced mocha with more whipped cream than any one person should have was currently doing the trick, along with looking through the pictures on her phone. At least foxes were kind of cool?

The Park [Wednesday Afternoon]

Sometimes, you just had to get out of the house. Hatter didn't really want to go to work so he'd ambled his way out to the park and took a familiar seat on one of the benches. The flamingos didn't pay him any sort of mind and Hatter was just fine with that.

He was out there to just sit and clear his head. He'd picked up to drink and eat from the local bakery and those were sitting next to his hip on the bench. It wasn't tea, since he wasn't ready for that just yet, but something cold and caffeinated. Iced coffee was a new thing for him but he was willing to give it a try. The muffin looked a bit more appetizing.

When one of the flamingos got sight of the muffin and started making eyes at it, Hatter shook his head and moved it back.

"No. Mine. Get your own," he told him and just sighed at the fact that he was talking to flamingos again.

Groovy Tunes, Wednesday

Today was another one that was difficult to place musically. Eleanor grabbed CDs in piles of six or seven at a time, but ended up returning them after only a minute or two. Soothing music didn't fit her jangling nerves, and upset music just made her feel worse.

Maybe she'd put on some of Aunt Grace's music and have done with it.
