Jack encouraged the DJ to pump up the volume on his godwaful mix of contemporary holiday music to eardrum-endangering levels. The racked was was, as noted, godawful, but it served to cover the horror-themed Christmas songs coming from the smaller island. (Really, the island's taste in music -- and heaven knew when Jack had started to think landmasses had those -- was almost worse than the ghosts.)

He adjusted his earplugs to block as much noise as possible and, as he wiped off the bar's tables and counter, went back to mentally calculating the hours until his holiday vacation. There always seemed to be too many.

Coming into work had been interesting. Hearing some really weird Christmas carols sound like it was booming all around you certainly made for an interesting experience. Hatter had not joined in. When he stepped into work, he found the place a mess of glitter and garland. Apparently, it was time to decorate.

"Just don't get it in the food!" Hatter shouted, moving some garland off his chair and flopping down. Glitter floated onto his pants and down at his feet. "And I am not vacuuming this up!"

Really, did it have to be so cold and wet and ugh? Normally Cecil would've been staying inside and warm in this sort of weather, but there were Christmas carols playing! Ones that made him feel all uneasy and filled with dread and definitely in the holiday spirit.

So, he was sitting on a bench in the park to hear them better. Well, sitting on a blanket on a tarp on a bench. Wrapped in about four layers of clothing and another blanket, with a thermos of very sweet coffee.

It was almost* perfect.

* Just missing a scientist with perfect hair.
