Wonka's, Monday

Emma was back behind the counter at Wonka's, and after restocking the shelves, she took a moment to 'taste-test' some of the wares. A good thing too, because something was wrong.

She double-checked the package. It definitely said milk-chocolate bits on there, but these were all dark, and not just plain dark, the really bitter seventy-eighty-ninety-whatever percent dark that even she was tempted to pass on. Frowning, she opened a packet of what was supposed to be white-chocolate bits. Same thing.

Her frown deepening, Emma started looking around the store, and as far as she could tell (a lot of the stock was wrapped in foil or opaque plastic) every single scrap of chocolate in the place had turned dark.

Right, so someone had gotten the brilliant idea to ship a package to Fandom using postage stamps, which wouldn't have been a problem if whoever it was hadn't needed to stick exactly seventy-three of them to the package with rubber cement.

The absurd thing was that they had managed to get the postage cost exactly right down to the cent.

The annoying thing was that the package had been sitting in the bin right beside the heater since it came in late yesterday, and someone had left the heater on overnight, and the shipper had used a lot of rubber cement.

Which was the story of how, once she successfully managed to un-stick the package from the side of the bin, Éponine still had to spend the rest of the day constantly peeling leaves and bits of paper off her arms from where the rubber cement was clinging in intricate, near-invisible webs to her skin.

There was also -- given the new crop of students -- a NOW HIRING sign in the window, but that had nothing to do with the thrice-bedamned package.

[OOC: . . . I don't even know. No OCD, but open!]

Through no real fault of their own, things in the house had been kind of terrible for the last week, so when Kitty got in to work today she was really hoping for an easy night.

Then when she got her wish on that front, she decided it was drink experiment night. Every once in a while she and Tino would try to create drinks on their own just to see if they were worth serving here, which sometimes turned out great, and sometimes... really didn't. Either way, it was something to do.

Mary was short a few housekeepers today, so she was folding laundry at the front desk. Some of the newer maids had been a little skittish after the most recent gremlin incident and had demanded better safety provisions. Until they were satisfied, they were calling in sick. For now, Mary figured she could pitch in herself to get the work done. In the meantime, she'd placed a large order for baseball bats. Hopefully if she supplied every maid with a bat for protection, they would feel comfortable returning to work. Mary just hoped that order arrived before the weekend.

Plans had been drawn up. Now it was time to take inventory. What on earth was there in the shop that Jessica could use for inventing? Pretty much everything, of course, but still. She was working on a very particular project. Once she had a good idea of what she could use, she could figure out what she still needed, and... Wait. She was making this way too complicated.

"JARVIS? Take inventory. What do we have here that I can use? Reference the schematics I uploaded last week."

Now it was time to refill her water bottle.

The NOW HIRING sign was still in the window and the place was, of course, ready for walk-ins.

For once it was a quiet day at the station and Vic had finished her paperwork well ahead of time.

Unfortunately for Ralph it meant a lot of spitballs hitting his helmet.
