The last time this particular island quirk had happened, it'd skipped Flick. Not this time. This time, he'd woken up and, after a few sluggish moments, realized that his hair was longer, his body was thinner and he had breasts. So, that was a thing now. The whole dressing situation was tougher than imagined but he'd found shorts and a shirt that were big but fit. He didn't think he looked too idiotic.

Besides, he was going to sit behind a counter all day and probably only get a visit or two from someone he didn't know who wouldn't be able to tell him from Adam. Or Eve today. Then, he'd go back to his room and stay there. Maybe he'd sleep the weirdness away.

Or maybe he'd just go to New York and stay in a hotel and wait it out there since there was less of a chance of anyone finding him. It wasn't that he really cared that he was a girl, though. He just didn't want to make a big deal out of it.

He looked pretty good at least. With a sigh, he opened up the shop and sat back, taking out his phone to text a few people. He made no mention of his current state.

"What in the ever loving fuck is this?" Ronan had nearly shouted when he'd woken up and realized what was happening. Yes, he'd been warned about this and yes, he'd almost expected his run of good luck to end but like this? That wasn't even fair.

Snarling, Ronan had thrown the blankets off of himself and put his hands on his face. Smooth skin, high cheekbones, sharp nose, lots of hair. If the Lynches had a girl, he figured this is what she'd look like. He was not a girl and he almost wanted to stomp his feet and throw a tantrum.

But, he hadn't. Instead, he'd changed into something that fit and didn't fall off of him and gone out to the parking lot. It wasn't too hot yet and the familiar sight of his car made him feel a little better, a little less like screaming at the first person he saw. He threw the hood of the car open, wanting to beat it with a wrench so he'd have something to fix.

His phone buzzed.

Adam. Of course. Ronan ignored the call and smack his smaller hand against the side of the car.

"Ow." Goddammit.

The Gig, Saturday

It was Belmont Stakes day. Normally, Dani would have dragged a small TV to the barn or put up a live stream on her laptop in the office. But today, she just couldn't do it. Dani wanted to finally see a Triple Crown win. But she knew that sending a horse that had run two big stakes races in the last 5 weeks against fresh horses did not bode well for American Pharaoh. So Dani was trying to keep busy by cleaning and rearranging the tack room to keep herself from dwelling on the race.

This hadn't been a good day. Jasper hadn't known what to think when he'd woken up distinctly female. For a guy who had a few fears tied to the female gender, it'd freaked him out enough that he'd had to get out of his room pretty damn quick. He really didn't want to be questioned on this because he had no answers and that wasn't typical.

If there was a question, he liked to have an answer. For this, all he could do as shrug and blame this island. That just felt weird. It made him feel like he was more of a permanent resident than a temporary visitor.

Last week, he'd spent time in the preserve and this week, he was glad for that. He knew where to walk to find a nice, quiet spot where he could sit down and take a few breaths. The shirt he'd put on was too big and the pants had to be held up by a belt that was notched at the very last hole.

Ain't you a pretty one, boy. Just think of this as naturalistic observation. You get good at living like a girl, that'll make it easy for you to grab yourself a girl later on. Walk a mile in their shoes...

Jasper wanted to retch but didn't. Instead, he ran his hands through his too long hair, pulling at a tangle and growling ominously in frustration. Anger lived underneath his surface, simmering and well controlled, but it was there.

Calm down, Jasper. Breathe in. Breath out. Ain't no good in getting all worked up. This'll all smooth out.

Jasper exhaled. The fact that his father's voice was helping him through this made him shudder but it was helping. He kept walking, picking his way around trees and through fallen leaves. Maybe he'd just stay out there till he was male again.
