Sparkle was in a great mood today as he put new stock out on the racks at the Demon Marcus.

Why was Sparkle in a great mood?

He wasn't telling.

... Unless you were here for gossip and not clothes, anyway.

Demon Marcus was open, and yes, Sparkle was singing Cabaret while he worked again.

It was a thinky kind of day, and that was what Anders was doing. He thought and worried and considered -- about Nathan, and the other Thedosians on the island, and whether Karl might be able to slip away to visit for another weekend -- as he stacked shelves, as he put away herbs, as he took breaks to play with Lachlan. (The cat, not appreciating Anders' frame of mind, had insisted on going to work with him today.)

If he didn't come to any conclusions, it wasn't due to lack of effort.
