Moored at the docks was a magnificent two-masted sailing ship. Clean lines, built for speed and manoeuvrability, the words Siren's Call emblazoned on the hull.

There was also a suspiciously fresh sign by the gangplank.

No Pictures, Please.

Isabela, no.

Jones had found herself immersed in a rather horrible fiction involving Thomas Edison, Nikolai Tesla, a rather pale girl and some sort of ape-vampire hybrid named Samson. Along with the conflicting love interest who was a platypus-werewolf hybrid named Daniel.

She knew it was bad. But for whatever kind of life she had in her, she couldn't stop reading.

The Book haven was open.

Jones would appreciate any kind of interruption

There was a chill in the air that had Jack tightening his scarf around his neck on the way to work, and fixing a cup of tea with a nip of bourbon in it once he was behind the bar.

The weather had Jack thinking more seriously about Halloween. He liked costume parties, always had, and it struck him as a terrible waste that the bar had never hosted one. This would be the year to change that, he decided.

He grabbed a notebook and started planning.

Neither Eliot nor Nana would have let the team's trip to Chicago end without Eliot going home with at least a few of her recipes. If nothing else, Hardison was bound to get sick or injured by being stupid again, someday, and when it happened Eliot wanted to be able to make the right sorts of comfort food.

In fact, Eliot had come home with quite the stack, and a list of detailed notes on cooking techniques his haphazard country-western/French provincial chef training hadn't covered. So the trick today was picking out just a few recipes to start with.

The kitchen staff had at least learned to just get the hell out of Eliot's way when he came in with a sheaf of notes and that look on his face.

Today's specials
Buttermilk brined-fried chicken
Fried pecan okra
Sweet potato pie

Luke's was open. And soul food-filled.
