There was cinnamon everywhere. Which Eliot would have perfectly happily blamed on Fandom's recent holiday obsession, except that there were also candles in all the windows, just like the ones that had spontaneously appeared at his house. Which wasn't covered in cinnamon.

"Fandom did it," the cook said, wiping cinnamon off his face. Eliot just tilted his head and raised an eyebrow. The cook slumped. ". . . but I'll clean it up."

Behind him, the busboy sneezed his way across the kitchen.
