spin_kick_snap: Kang Min Kyung as Kathy/Banzai (Default)

Kathy was eighteen today, now officially an adult with all the important responsibilities that entailed. At least, that was the gist of the lecture she'd gotten from her parents when they called this morning to wish her a happy birthday. But, you know, Kathy didn't really feel like being grown up and responsible today. Maybe it was a leftover glow of happiness from the party yesterday. Maybe it was being woken up by her parents who had disapproved to find that she'd slept in till the outrageous hour of nine am. Or maybe it was all the sugar and caffeine buzzing through her system from the free peppermint macchiato The Perk had given her for her birthday. For whatever reason, Kathy was going to put off maturity and adulthood for another few hours and just appreciate being a kid. Which, right now, meant playing in the snow on playground. There were snow angels to make and snowmen to build and swings to swing on as high as they could go.

It was her birthday and she could play if she wanted to.

Now that, well, THAT was done with and there were no more monsters to punch on her way to work, Jessica got to Stark's, shook the powdered sugar off her coat, and settled in.

With Kitty being back to normal, Jessica could focus on her main work again and try to finish up the power dampening unit for the jail. Because what could be more festive than that? Look, you had to cut her a break. She may have been generally fine day to day with her continued existence, but the Holidays were pretty rough since they were about family (dead), friends (dead), religion (essentially rendered null and void now that her world was empty space ruled by God Doom), and Santa (countless versions of whom presumably died). So she was going to focus on the work.

It was kind of weird, going from being incorporeal to a crisis in Fandom to Christmas and wedding preparations, but that's where Kitty was now. She was currently some half disorganized mess, having finished up the last of her shopping today and working on a class syllabus and occasionally remembering to check out like what kind of flowers were in season in March on her phone.

Happy holidays, have some egg nog.

Eliot hadn't been in any rush to leave the house this morning -- or the boyfriend sprawled all over the bed in said house -- but the diner had been the scene of more than a couple battles over the weekend, and he knew that if he didn't go over and make sure it was getting cleaned up, it probably wouldn't end up happening.

"Santa!" the staff greeted as he walked in the door. They were all wearing elf outfits.

Eliot smiled faintly. "I hate every single one of you."

The staff cheered.

Once again, Jaina was waiting for her portal at the Perk, her bag next to her feet. Since their relationship largely depended on not being mad when one of them disappeared to help save someone or something, Jag was just glad she was okay, and also he enjoyed the video of Anakin at karaoke.

Now Jaina had to wait with her coffee and too many thoughts in her head. The past stuff she'd seem... She'd never be over it, but she'd dealt with it enough to be okay about it. Those visions of herself in charge and hurling Force lightning, though, that bothered her in a way she couldn't explain, since there was no chance of her being an empress ever. Eh. She supposed it would be too boring if she didn't have something to worry about.

[Open! Look Star Wars made me wanna play her all the time, Sue me.]

So apparently whatever had been going on over the weekend was done with. That's what people said. Ringo figured that they wouldn't lie to her, so she might as well assume that they were right.

But while it had been relatively easy for Ringo to call up her Crazy Apple persona when she'd needed it, she was finding it a lot harder to put it away. Mostly because Crazy Apple was cautious, and whispered in the back of Ringo's head, reminding her that while people wouldn't lie about the crisis being over, that didn't mean that they weren't wrong. That overwhelming flood of emotions could be back, along with the threats on the streets, and it was best to be prepared.

So Ringo had worn her regalia when she decided she needed to blow off steam and headed out to the Warehouse District, to her usual spot. She wasn't riding, though. She was standing in the middle of what she had come to think of as "her" territory looking a bit forlorn.

Over six months in Fandom had given her ample time to mark the area with her signature. Gouges in walls, worn-down railings, dents in dumpsters and rolling metal doors. Each one a sign of a path practiced over and over, with practiced eyes able to trace the big sweeping movements and soaring jumps. But over the weekend there had been enough practicing that the faint beginnings of a new path could be seen, too.

Ringo's path through the area was wild and free and fun, but Crazy Apple's was almost the opposite. Controlled, efficient, with an eye toward offensive and defensive positioning. Ringo rode ATs to be free while Crazy Apple rode to fight, and there was that voice whispering in the back of her head, pointing out which one of them had been right for this past weekend.

A small shiver ran through Ringo's body, and she hugged her arms around herself tightly for a moment as she stood paralyzed with indecision. Should she let herself relax, get out there and ride the familiar path, or should she set fun aside and ride that new path, renewing skills that she'd hoped to set aside. Would it be irresponsible of her to push the fighting aside again?
