Alluka had a job!

She did not fully understand that it was a job, since Sparkle had sold it to her on the basis of 'come in and play dress-up and get money for this', but it was a job.

She was supposed to work.

Alluka wandered into the store about an hour early, because she was excited, noted that there was a sign in the window, which read:

New To Winter? Feeling Cold?
40% Off Winter Clothes For Those Who Have None!

Then she found the lights.

After all, you needed lights to be on to try on clothes! Then she squished her bunny tightly and began looking through the clothing options. She, and her bunny, had differing opinions of what looked good, but that was part of the fun too.

She was... working... sort of...

After the hour was up and the store was officially open, Sparkle wandered in to look after the till, since she didn't know how. Yet. He said he was going to teach her, once she learned a few other things. That was pretty exciting too!

Jack was back behind the bar, skin golden from a winter break spent on the beach with Emma. The cold air on the island felt like a reprimand for having been dumb enough to come back.

The sign outside the club read:

Special today: 2-for-1 on candy cane, Christmas cookie, and hot chocolate vodka.

He had to get rid of the last of the Christmas stocks somehow.

The cook was pacing around the kitchen in slow circles, waving his arms in the air. The busboy grinned at Eliot when he came in.

"I got him a fitbit for Christmas!"

"Yeah?" Eliot said. "Didja get him a new job, too?"

The busboy's grin collapsed. "Cookie! He's doing the angry face!"

The cook rushed over to the counter and started prepping. Eliot turned and headed back into the dining room.

". . . wasn't even doin' a face," he muttered.

The Perk, Monday Afternoon

Life was starting to look up again, by which Atton meant that this morning he'd been able to use his fingers again. He kinda relied on those fingers. Knowing the kolto was doing its work? That was good. Anyway, if he was going to have a Mical-enforced vacation yet again, he might as well do something with it.

He ordered the biggest coffee he could find at the front (with a shot of caramel, though he told the barista not to tell) and ambled to his usual seat in full sight-range of the door. A couple minutes later, he was back at the front to get some pie, too.

See? Enjoying his vacation.

He broke out the pazaak cards after five minutes. He was bored already.
