It was a much quieter evening at Caritas this week. Much, much quieter. Well, except for the band. And the very enticing specials board, obviously.

TONIGHT'S SPECIALS
50% OFF IF YOU STILL DON'T HAVE A DATE FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

Yep. Mike was behind the bar, looking up Valentine's themed drinks because sometimes he was a masochist. Or just liked to be amused by how much sugar went into some of these.

Early Sunday morning, all of the flowers that had been ordered through the Student Council were delivered to the dorms, dropped off around town, or carefully sent through Portalocity to their new homes.

The florist had been muttering something about a bingo, but that probably wasn't important.

Flowers under here! )

If Raven had realized what the date was in Fandom before deciding to make a conveniently timed spontaneous visit, she likely would've changed her plans. But she'd been busy lately and had lost track of the time differences between Glacia and Fandom and hadn't noted the date when she checked into the hotel late Saturday night. It wasn't until she found flowers delivered to her room that she realized it was Valentine's Day. And that sent more than a little twist of guilt and anxiety through her as she remembered what had happened last Valentine's Day, making it oh so tempting to just quickly return to Glacia.

She fought the urge and went to the Perk for some tea instead. She needed a nice lavender and chamomile blend to soothe her nerves. She ordered the cup to go, since the fresh air, despite the chilly weather, would help ease her mind, and she'd grown used to Glacia's weather anyway.

She made her way to the park and sat down on a bench, just looking over Fandom as she sipped her tea. Funny how the guilt seemed to be swiftly dissipating, slowly replaced by emotions of a much warmer sort.

[So very open, though I am at work this morning (*sobs* effing flowers) so may be slow until later this afternoon.]

The flowers had been delivered. They rested on doorsteps, or indoors in vases, or possibly even in trash cans, but they had arrived at their intended destinations. (Or, perhaps, unintended. One never knew with Fandom Island, after all.)

Some of them were duds. But inside the rest of them, just an hour after delivery, something... fluttered.

The pollen, as it was, was largely invisible to the eye; you'd have to shine a lamp directly on the flowers and pay close attention with supernatural eyesight to notice anything amiss. But it was there, and it had been there, waiting.

It drifted quietly out of each flower, bringing warmth to the air.

Or perhaps it just felt that way.

[[ thus begins sex pollen week! ]]

After her conversation with Anders at the dance, Kathy had contacted Eliot to see if he'd mind her co-opting the diner on Sunday for a delicious Valentine's Day brunch. She'd had to argue with the busboy over the decorations (namely, he'd wanted to decorate everything in shades of pink and red, while Kathy thought a few accents as a nod to the holiday would be plenty), but after the dishwasher and cook had both sided with her, the busboy'd acceded with ill-grace, sulking off into a corner.

That was fine. They had more important things to worry about anyway. Like the very important question of what should be on the menu?

Valentine's Day Brunch
Belgian Waffles with Topping Bar
Choose Your Own Omelette Adventure
Mini-BLTs
Nutella-stuffed French Toast
Mimosa Bar
Whether you're lucky in love or enjoying the single life, come enjoy a delicious brunch

Looking at her plate, Kathy was clearly sampling her way through the entire menu. For quality control. Obviously.

The sign in front of Devil's Nest read:

Sure, come to a bar for Valentine's Day. What do we care.

Eric'd jacked up the prices on weird chocolate-flavored drinks becuase that was what he did, but Tiny would give you a good deal on Jaegermeister if you looked like you neded some.

The Devil's Nest was open, and the vampire was around, smiling at a box of dirt with more expression than that sort of gift should inspire.

Rey didn't have the knowledge to do a lot of new stuff on Jessica's project, but she was having fun seeing what others had managed to do so far. And every once in a while she would tweak something, because it just felt like that might make it work better.

And doing something detail-intensive kept her from dwelling on that slightly twitching feeling she didn't know what to do with. With deflection like that, she really might be a Skywalker.

[I know it's late, shhh.]

Sparkle was a little late getting to work today. Why? Because none-of-your-damn-business, that was why. Because he knew where all the free but still enjoyable dirty stuff was on the internet, and quality entertainment was important to take in, in this day and age.

At least he'd remembered to do his make-up before coming to work. And he'd grabbed his Valentine's gifts for his employees on the way out the door (a stuffed animal for Alluka and a bottle of booze for Ada, both of which would be left behind the counter for them to find during their respective shifts, and nobody could tell him he wasn't an awesome boss). And he was wearing clothes. It was too cold out there to not wear clothes.

And, you know. At least he'd decided to show up in the first place. Maybe he'd even like, put clothes on the racks or something. That was a thing that people did at work, wasn't it?

Presumably, anyway.

Was it hot in here?

[OOC: Hi I just got home from the symphony I AM SO CLASSY. Open post, OCD-free!]
