"I'm not going to inspect the campground, Bright Eyes," Tamsin said, glaring at her. "I've done enough in the great outdoors in my life. I'm not going anywhere without running water again."

Bright Eyes clacked her tongue. "But our previous inspection crews already found that there is running water in the mountain range restrooms--"

"And we've send a ton of inspection crews," Tamsin said, pointing at her with a pen. "See? Another good reason why I don't need to go over there."

"But tradition--"

"We've got tradition on this island?"

Bright Eyes sighed. "I'll go myself and see how the students are settling in?"

"Much better," Tamsin said, sitting back.

Luke's, Sunday

"Don't talk to me, don't touch me, don't look at me," Kanan growled as he showed up for work, more or less on time. "It has been a week, and I don't know if I have the patience right now for any kriffing bantha poodoo anybody has planned for me today."

The cook and the busboy exchanged glances. A good hour later, one of them set a plate of food down in front of Kanan that was, as close as they could figure, a not disastrous way to prepare nerf using the imported (if in need of some emergency thawing) meat from the freezer and otherwise local ingredients.

"Eliot is still way more terrifying," one of the serving staff said, reaching out to pat Kanan on the head. He bared his teeth at the boy in turn, but there was nerf and an actual decent gesture, so today, just this once, he'd allow it. "'Poodoo' makes it harder to take you seriously."

Sigh.
