Three days. It was going on to the island's third day being bathed in total sunlight, and while Sparkle would have appreciated the reprieve from the dark after this past month (he had taken to sleeping with a light on, though he'd never admit it), the screaming sun from the last two days had meant that he was twitchy. So, so twitchy. He clearly hadn't slept much. Less than usual, even.

So after the walk to work this morning, he was a special sort of bone-deep exhausted. It was going to be a battle to not fall asleep at the counter today. But, he supposed, there weren't many people on the island who would blame him if he did, would they?

Demon Marcus was open, and Sparkle was mostly managing to not drool on himself, at the very least.

[OOC: It's like method RP but without the screaming sun oh god why can I not sleep for more than a few hours a night open post OCD-free because insomnia hahaha I cry]

Okay, so Screaming Sun Earth had been a mistake. Forty hours. Fandom had managed to hold on for forty hours, but enough was enough.

The island didn't think anyone on it would mind that it blinked away in the early hours of the morning and reappeared somewhere else. Somewhere very different.

It appeared in the sand just off a large cave. As soon as it buried its earthly bits in the desert, a small metal pole slid up out of the castle's roof. It moved up until it hit the invisible dome of oxygen around the island, and immediately spread to cover it, forming a large parasol that stretched over most of the island (bar the beach) and kept the scorching suns from causing nasty burns on anyone lingering outside too long. It cast a not-particularly-dark shadow across the streets.

... and it was a good thing it wasn't any darker, because in the caves nearby, beasts were stirring.

Maybe the island should've put up a sign warning people to avoid those caves, come to think. Oh well.

If the worst that this planet had to offer was hot, constant sun and an atmosphere with comparatively low oxygen levels, then Kanan was doing just fine. The screaming had stopped, after all, the island seemed to have the oxygen thing under control, and he'd been on worse planets in his lifetime. Hell, after last week's cheese fiasco, it was possible that he was having a little too much fun getting his comeuppance today.

"What, not using whatever's left of all of that cheese you guys grabbed last week?"

Kanan was also a terrible person, apparently, going by the way the busboy turned greenish and ran for the bathroom with one hand over his mouth, and how the cook was now vengefully throwing vegetables at the back of his head for the rest of the day.

But hey, they brought it upon themselves.

TODAY'S SPECIALS:
Coffee-Rubbed Steak
Grilled Green Salad With Coffee Vinaigrette
Iced Vanilla Latte
Tiramisu

If anybody needed Kanan, he'd be the smug-looking guy who was occasionally dodging the odd carrot or chunk of celery.

The screaming sun had not been okay, and Rey was beyond glad to leave that behind. And while she didn't know where they were, exactly, the setting at least made her feel a little more at home. Hanging out in a desert, working on a toaster... okay, it wasn't like her life on Jakku was great, but still.

At least she had a real bed to go to later.

Once again, those people showing up for class would be shown through the portal, Hannibal meeting them on the other side, on one side of a wide street where it was refreshingly dark and pleasantly cool. "Good evening," he said, nodding calmly. "I thought you might all enjoy something somewhat less bright and sweltering."

He spread his arms to gesture around them. "Welcome to Lima, Peru. The primary language here is Spanish; I speak it, and I imagine some of you may as well; please speak up so the others will know they can use you as a resource. Peru's standard cuisine owes much to a number of immigrant groups in the area; the restaurant we'll be visiting pares down some of those influences and focuses on local ingredients and flavors from the Amazon rainforest. The chef has researched quite a bit, and formed relationships with local suppliers that enable him to offer a wide variety."
