It was a quiet day at the book store.

Rufus didn't mind that as he made sure everything was in order, arranged for next week's delivery of new stock, and then settled at one of the chairs by the window to work on his laptop.

In short order Dark Nation had decided to join him, snoozing against his feet, and keeping them warm.

There were worse things than quiet.

It was Dante's first day back at work after the holidays, so of course the sound system was completely screwed. Every song Dante tried to put on? Nightcore cover.

"Come on," Dante muttered, as he put his guitar down for the fourth time to fiddle with the buttons. "Nobody needs a nightcore version of 'We Built This City'."

Peridot needed a phone. See, she needed it in order to catch Pokemon, because she was in a class about catching Pokemon, which she had figured might help her at least somewhat with dealing with corrupted Gems back in her own reality, since that was part of what Crystal Gems did.

But she couldn't catch Pokemon without a phone.

So that was her shift today at Stark's, between customers. Just poking at phones (some models that she was familiar with because she'd personally improved on them for customers before!) and seeing which one would be the superior Pokemon capturing device.

Mostly this involved stress-testing them with a hydraulic press.

It was probably best to not ask, where Peridot was involved.
