Peter read the note from Nathan and sighed. There were a few battered-looking tiger's jaw left, and a couple dozen pots of clippings that were rooted enough to be mewing pathetically. There was a shredded-looking mouse toy at the base of the pots, just out of their reach.

He picked it up and handed it back to them, and three of them started merrily chewing on it while the others cuddled up to his arm and butted it with their flowers.

"Guys, be nice to Nathan, okay? And Shiemi." He raised his voice. "That goes for all of you, and tell the new arrivals, please. They're here to help, and they can't do that if you're biting." There was a bit of rustling that could have been agreement or sullen mumbling.

Peter shook his head and went to move the catnip and mint further from the new cuttings.
