The damage from the sharkicane had been minimal and by the afternoon, Kathy had finished cleaning up what had remained from the week before. There were still other things she could do--prepping a new display, the omnipresent inventory, looking for new stock and suppliers--but she felt she'd been industrious enough for the day. After she put the finishing touches on the sign in the window, she pulled out her guitar and decided to pass some time practicing before she got back to doing actual store stuff. She'd finished memorizing the chords to the song, now to practice making it all sound smooth and singing along as she went.

Furnado Animal Shelter, Tuesday

Zack was relieved to find, when he came in for his shift today, that the whole place wasn't full of giant hamster tubes. Just the normal amount of hamster tubes, as part of hamster habitats, with hamsters in them. Which meant that today he could go about his usual duties, before--

Huh. Okay, the vet had already done all the cleaning in a fit of productivity today, and the puppies were already out in the playpen for their morning exercise. So...

Huh.

Zack's shift today was going to involve him running kittens in circles with a laser pointer, then. And putting a Now Hiring sign up in the window, in case anybody else wanted to run kittens in circles with a laser pointer for a living, too.

Covent Garden Flowers, Tuesday

Well, the day of utter and completely normal flower shop had probably been nice, but naturally that meant that Nathan was going to end up coming to work to something.

Even if it was a small something. A somewhat annoying something. The sort of something that involved a random rain of pennies whenever Nathan finished a flower arrangement. Which wouldn't bother him so much, except that the pennies stood a chance of damaging the flowers, and worse still, they were bad for the fish.

So Nathan wasn't getting much work done today. Two flower arrangements in and he'd figured out what the cue for pennies was, and the rest of the day was going to be spent setting up covers over the fish pond and anything particularly fragile, just in case an order couldn't wait.

This place.

Needful Things; Tuesday [08/29].

The last few days had been a lot of Summer to process, constantly gathering information and feeding it into her system to analyze and incorporate into her programming. That was kind of the beauty of the programming itself, how intuitive it was, how complex, how it was constantly evolving and changing and building on itself until it one day could think on its own and reject its robotic nature and claim to be superior to humans and their inferior technology and try to take over in a final stand for power and autonomy.

Of course, it was a long ways ahead for that, and the idea would be that the real Summer would be back long before it was an issue. Either way, everyone should be glad that the "sweeping the floor and dusting the knick-knacks" programming for her Tuesdays at Needful Things was an incredibly simple, boring, and dull program that required almost no learning or advancement, and was almost identical to the "sweeping the floor and dusting the knick-knacks" process that normally went on in Summer's human brain.

Of course, the first thing the Merchant of Miracles took care of with the new semester was for some new signage, all big and bold and sparkling with glitter to help attract more people into the store to hopefully think that they were missing things that they didn't actually need. Of course, it helped that he also sold a lot of the things people did need, so they came in anyway, which was a pretty sweet gig, but he could be doing so, so much better.

And so there were a lot of signs all throughout the store, signs of arrows pointing to various things (Notebooks! Pencil Cases! Backpacks! Fancy little soaps shapes like animals!). Not pointing out that they were on sale, mind you, just that they were there and they were for sale. A very important distinction.

There was also the debate with Apu about whether or not they needed to hire more staff. Apu insisted the Help Wanted sign at the start of a semester was a tradition; the Merchant argued that saving on overhead by not hiring anyone was his tradition. No sign, the Merchant said. But he had put up so many other signs that he didn't even notice when Apu had sneakily put it on the door anyway.

Turtle & Canary is Open!

Port of Fandom; Tuesday Afternoon [08/29].

Since he had no lessons for the day and he was feeling a bit more settled, Sidon figured today would be quite good for getting to know the waters around Fandom Island a little better. And though he preferred fresh water, he had to admit, it was absolutely wonderful being able to explore the ocean a little after spending such a long time (long for him, anyway) on dry land. Marvelous, really! He did rather wish he had some others to swim with; it wasn't he first time since he felt the ache of missing his fellow Zora, but this was nice, too. He made several laps around the island in pretty good time, then took a slower one to explore all the coves and more underwater features, finally settling to rest in the bay of the port, with its nice view of school, town, and preserve.

He sighed happily, breathing it all in, floating in the water, enjoying the feeling of the occasional light rain on his face with pleasure. He'd be all set as long as the rainy weather didn't quickly turn into troublesome storms.

Groovy Tunes, Tuesday

So the restructured Groovy Tunes was all officially open. Raven decided to celebrate this by blasting the karaoke version of 1989 and pretending to play the instruments as an actual pop star.

If pressed, she'd say it was to inspire people to come in and make their own music, but really, she was just feeling kind of goofy and bouncy today.
