Tip had introduced Breq to punk the other day. It was a little noisy, but the simplicity of the music made it enjoyable anyway. So she was playing the songs Tip had played to her, humming along. It bothered her sometimes that the body she was left didn't have a particularly pleasant voice, but the punk music hid that quite well.

So, there was music playing, and then there was a sudden silence. A creature was sitting on the floor, staring at Breq, Whatever it was, she tried to chase it off with a broom, and when she managed the music returned. It was persistent though, and after a while Breq gave up. Even humming didn't work. Stubbornly, she sang voicelessly into the silence one of the songs the children of Ors had taught her.

Covent Garden Flowers, Wednesday

The monsoon had let up today - instead, the entire tropical plant section was hot and so humid it was misty. Fortunately, it meant some of the lake in the aisle was evaporating; unfortunately, it meant that some of the nearby plants were miserable.

And whimpering.

So, today Peter would spend his time alternately moving the complaining plants away from the overwhelming damp heat, and trying to come up with a spell to get rid of some of the water that wouldn't just burn up the entire store.

And bailing it out in buckets and towels. Hey, he could be practical.

The flower shop was open!
