spin_kick_snap: Kang Min Kyung as Kathy/Banzai (Confidant Smile)

Kathy had been eighteen when she'd gotten her first tattoo, a silhouette of a gymnast with a rainbow ribbon above her head. It had been a tipsy nod to her alter-ego as Banzai, gotten with Anders on a chilly day in January. Tattoos two and three had been added a few months after she'd returned to the island: seven tally marks on the inside of her left wrist and a small circle on her right shoulder with names written in Hangul inside of it. Those were tributes to the fallen and reminders of what hubris could lead to.

Today was a sunny day in October, almost twenty-two months since she'd gotten her first and barely six months since she'd gotten her last, Kathy stood inside Ink and Holes, idly flipping through their books of completed piercings and tattoos. A piece of paper with the design for her fourth tattoo was tucked into her jacket pocket, but if she could find a way to improve it, why not?

[Kathy's here with one, but open to other customers or random passersby!]

Working at Groovy Tunes usually made her anger and sadness fade into the background. Today, however, Breq had discovered the keyboards, and playing simple melodies, they gradually turned into the tunes she had learnt on Shis'urna. Quietly she sang the song the children had taught her just days before Anaander Mianaai had arrived in Ors.

My heart is a fish
Hiding in the water-grass
In the green, in the green

Breq didn't notice that her eyes filled with tears.

So Halloween was next week. Peter...wouldn't have thought it was a big flower holiday. But what did he know?

Apparently Halloween arrangements were a thing.

And not just with gourds, thank you for the note, Nathan.

"No, I'm sorry, ma'am - maybe try the candy store? We only do flower arrangements here. I can make you one with room for candy? Yes, ma'am. Well, we do have bleeding hearts? Okay, sure. Friday."

The flower store was open!

Ino was... spending a fair bit of time away from the apartment these days, which was probably a thing she ought to think about but she didn't really want to.

Instead, she was busy seeing what the internet told her were popular scents for Christmas. She had no plans to go all-in for any of the holidays this planet celebrated but she'd try to, at least, have a few things.

And mint did smell awfully good...

Sure, it was Halloween next week (and she hadn't really figured out what that was supposed to smell like, so she'd gone back to things that were more generally 'autumn' scents, like fallen leaves, and apples, and pumpkins) but a girl could never be too prepared.
