It was always a little worrisome when Amaya came into the shop and didn't see Apu out front sweeping or tending to the register, so it was with trepidation that she went to locate him and see what was up. Thankfully, she didn't have to go too far and, thanks to the experience she had with her own boots that morning, wasn't surprised to see him surrounded by boxes of shoes, steadfast in his pursuit to empty the candy that had appeared in every single one.

"So not just my boots, then," Amaya observed, feeling relieved. "Good."

And when they tried to decide what to do with all that candy, Amaya just shrugged her shoulders. "Bag it up, slap a label on it, we'll put a display out front. Who knows? Maybe foot candy is totally a delicacy around these parts."

Apu explained that it wasn't, but Amaya just shrugged again, because what else were they going to do? Eat it all? So there was a display selling bags of Shoe Candy for about a buck each by the register and the problem was solved.

Breq had emptied candy out of her shoes this morning, but that didn't bother her, considering the past few days. She had considered a pleasant day listening to new music on the stereo, but anything it played was familiar to her.

Gradually it became more and more strange. She was fairly certain this place didn't have any recordings of Garseddai funeral music. It was around then she figured it out. The stereo was playing any song she was thinking about. She knew well enough that not thinking about specific things worked contrary to what one wanted, and when the stereo began to play a certain Orsian song that reminded her of a certain person, she came very close to throwing something hard at it.

She didn't. She turned it off instead, and spent the rest of the day singing cheerful songs while crying at the same time. Because not thinking about what she was thinking about didn't work at all.

Covent Garden Flowers, Wednesday

There were a ton of orders to get through today, and a lot of wreaths to figure out.

Meanwhile, the fire-spitting plants and the cold-emitting plants had cuddled up together, and Peter was going to just leave them to it, since that area seemed to be neither on fire nor excessively cold.

So he was in the shop, fighting (metaphorically) with pine wreaths and the phone, and having a relatively normal day for Fandom.

It beat going home and trying to deal with his roommate at the moment.
