The Perk, Monday Morning

Sparkle was... hungry, he thought.

Or cold? Maybe he was cold. He'd slept outside last night, not completely certain what to do with himself after the slugs had gone away, and while Atton's intructions to go to Selkie Cove were still ringing in his head, he was all too aware that if he were to go there, he'd find nothing.

And he... he wanted nothing. That had been the whole point, right? But that sort of nothing was too much. So he'd kind of aimlessly stumbled around town, and then the island had started dropping chocolate sprinkles on his head. Which was maybe a hint? He was taking it as a hint. He was hungry. He should eat. He hadn't done that since...

... He wasn't sure.

The barista had taken some manner of pity on him, walking him through his usual order and then letting him have his coffee and a donut on the house. Had even told him to take a seat and eat them, be careful not to burn himself on the coffee, though it was possible she'd done that just to get him out of the way so that other customers could order.

Okay, good. He'd gotten this far. Island said to eat, barista said to drink, and so Sparkle was sitting at a table near the window, kind of mechanically doing both, and wondering what to do himself after he was finished with that.

Luke's, Monday

Eliot had had an extremely rough weekend in which he'd been particularly useless against the latest in-coming threat, but the radio had been kind enough not to report his total metldown and he was perfectly happy to go back to life as normal pretending none of it had ever happened.

And he had a lovely Christmas beer, courtesy of the island, and a staff full of crazy people to help him do it.

"Look," he said. "I get the theme, the theme is not the problem."

The cook shook his head, clearly at a loss.

"You seriously don't see an issue with putting latkes and pork pie on the same specials board?"

Yuletide pork pie
Classic potato latkes
Christmas fruitcake

Of course they didn't.

The Streets of Fandom, Late Monday Morning

So it seemed like everything was just about getting back to normal, after yesterday's portals. The slugs were gone, and so were all the extra people as far as Octavia could tell.

But she was feeling restless. And so, with traces of yesterday's warpaint still around her eyes, she was taking one last patrol walk around the island. Her sword was in its scabbard at her back. Half the point of this walk was just to convince herself that the danger was done for now, but that didn't mean she was going to go out unarmed. Her gaze was scanning her surroundings keenly.

But everything seemed peaceful.

Occasionally, with an annoyed huff, she brushed chocolate sprinkles off her shoulders. And no, she hadn't thought to taste them. You couldn't trust random things that fell from the sky.
