There were new kittens! Loads of new kittens! Sidon couldn't think of a better workday surprise, and he made it his goal to get to know each and every one of them as new friends before the day was out.

...which was proving difficult, because they were already so new to the world and here was this big thing being very enthusiastic about interacting with them. Some of them seemed very eager for the opportunity, sure, but most of them were very definitely nope-ing the heck out of there.

Someone wanted a giant pre-Valentine's Day arrangement with a pink teddy bear as the centerpiece. They'd even sent in the teddy bear themselves. Its black, soulless beady eyes kept staring at Octavia while she worked on the other parts of the unnecessarily complicated arrangement.

As if she'd needed another reason not to be thrilled with this holiday.

She wondered whether it would really matter if the teddy bear was to have a little accident and just go missing before the end of her shift.
