It was a damn good thing Summer had a big party to get ready for, because it was just the thing for her to channel all her anger into so she just didn't blow up and go ballistic or something, because her family was seriously the worst. There was plenty to do, too, moving everything from the dorms to the spot in the preserve she found that would be perfect, putting up lights, tables, getting a music system set up, marking a path through the woods so everyone could find it without a problem. She could throw herself into the work and into the glitterfication of everything to try to forget about how mad she was at her parents right now, but it wasn't helping as much as she thought it was. It might have to wait until the kegs and the jello shots started flowing.

And, of course, it didn't also didn't help that she'd barely just gotten into it when a yellow-shirted teenager with too big of a head showed up, standing nervously at the edge of the clearing without saying anything. Summer tried to work past it, but she could feel Morty's anxiousness radiating off of him, distracting her. "What do you want?" she demanded.

Morty's fingers tapped together. "I, uh, I wanted to say sorry," he said. "For Mom and Dad. That...that was, that was a really shitty thing they did.* And I know you hate us all and that you don't want to come home, but...I just...I-I just wanted to tell you that...that I'm really glad you're coming home, Summer. It-It's been really hard, dealing with all of this by myself. It's just..it's just not the same. So I'm glad. I'm glad you're coming home. Even if you're a bitch. I...I miss you."

And Summer stopped what she was doing, stringing up lights into the trees. Her shoulders sunk and she sighed. "God dammit, Morty."

She stopped and she went over to wrap her arms around him and give him a hug. "I miss you, too."

They took that moment and they held it for a little longer, because nothing was going to interrupt it or ruin it this time, and that in itself was a rare, special moment. But moments like that had a time limit, and before it started to get awkward, Summer pulled away. "But if you're going to crash my party," she said, "you could at least help out."

Morty smiled, trying not to make it too big. "Y-yeah, yeah, sure. Anything you want. Y-You...you got it, Sis."

"Ugh. Gross."

But with that, they got to work, and, in no time, the party was all set up. Lights strung up in the trees, a bonfire crackling in the middle of the clearing. Tables set up with the usual offerings of pizza and chips, hot dogs and s'more stuff to go with the fire, jellos of questionable content, a rainbow of jello shots, and a couple of kegs with plenty of red Solo cups. She had some party mixes playing through some rented speakers, and so now she just needed other people, because how lame would it be if the only person at her last party as a student here was her dorky little brother?

It could have been worse, though, she supposed.

"Nooooo."

Sparkle wasn't entirely sure what it was he was protesting. He'd come to work today in spite of going out drinking for Sia's birthday last night, though, and now he was here, and he had like eight bottles of water and a whole lot of regrets on standby.

He also had his face down on the counter, and was occasionally making little noises of protest, because he was the manager of this goddamn store and he couldn't even bring himself to take a sick day when he had a hangover? He was supposed to be irresponsible, dammit. Why was he not being irresponsible??

"Whyyyyyyy."

If this was what adulthood meant, it was dumb.

So, graduation yesterday had been... nice? Mostly nice. The scorpions notwithstanding, of course. But those were to be expected, Jonothon supposed, as he settled in behind the counter at the Groovy Tunes and started going through a few CDs that had been left at the counter on Thursday by customers who had been unable to pay for them, for some reason. Did nobody on the island pay with debit or credit anymore?

Around here anything was possible, granted.

Feeling vaguely lazy today, Jono pulled out his phone and sent a text around to a few of his friends.

When did high school graduates start getting so young?

There. Even if business was slow while the new grads entertained their guests, at least he could spend his day texting back and forth with Jubilee about feeling old. His day was set.

[OOC: Open! If you want to also have gotten Jono's text, by all means!]

Kanan had only just set foot in the door of Luke's when the word, "No," escaped his lips.

The kitchen staff all turned to fix him with wide-eyed, totally innocent looks. From under the square pancakes they were wearing on their heads.

"You didn't graduate yesterday, those aren't mortarboards, and wearing pancakes on your head is unhygienic," Kanan said, slipping behind the counter and shaking his head at the lot of them.

"Yeah," the busboy said, "but Sundays are pancake days."

Kanan just sighed and rolled his eyes.

Today's Specials:
Mortarboard Pancakes! They're just regular pancakes, but they're square!

"How has Eliot not fired you all yet?"

The dishwasher grinned and tried to slap a pancake onto Kanan's head.

Jaina liked getting weekends back here when she could, even if the twins were getting to be an age where they were mobile and getting into everything and they were harder to wrangle. As semi-usual she got a table at the Perk and sent a text to let people know she was around if they were, and after the boys got crabby about being in a stroller, she gave in and set them on the floor.

And then anytime they started crawling too far away, she could just drag them back with the Force, which was hilarious.

No, Atton hadn't missed Sia's birthday on purpose, and if you said that he did, you were a filthy liar.

... To be fair, the weird, complicated dreams he'd been having for the past few nights weren't helping. Sometimes he swore he was waking up to the presence of people long since dead, just loitering around his bedroom, even.

It was freaking him out.

Stupid Force.

And so for the fifth subsequent night, he was comming Mira. Not before putting out the sign that offered a 30% off deal if you ordered two cocktails, no. But after that...

"Atton, I don't have time to listen to you complain whenever you feel like it," Mira answered.

"And hello to you too, sunshine--"

"I'm serious." Mira's tone was flat. "We're in trouble."

Atton blinked. "Oh," he said.

"Yeah, so unless you're going to contribute something useful to the conversation, this call is over."

"No, no, back up," Atton said slowly. "What kinda trouble are we talking about?"
