Furnado Animal Shelter; Thursday [07/26].

Sidon was still a little bummed that he had failed at the attempt to possess the new and improved fish (so pretty!!), but he knew he would likely have another chance, assuming nothing too terrible happened to it again. It was baffling to him, really, when he thought about it, the things people were doing to that poor fish, and it gave him hearty hope and a good feeling to know that some people, such as his boss, existed to make the fish better. It truly made him feel proud to come in for his shift that day.

And besides, there were plenty of beautiful fish here, too! And cats and puppies. And...one very fat and grumpy looking gopher. Oh, he must be new! Yes, it was hard to stay bummed out about the fish when it was so easy to remember that real fish were so much better, anyway.

T42 - Thursday

Hernando was a little nervous today. He expected a new vendor but since he hadn't met any of the old vendors, he wasn't certain if he had done everything right. The counter seemed agreeable. It had produced some tiered cupcake stands with glass covers in preparation. The store had seemed to approve of the cupcakes Kaidan had brought in the week before. It hadn't slid them to the floor the way it had when he'd put a kale/spinach/blueberry smoothie on it nor had it just absorbed it the way it did tea it did not approve of.

He wiped at invisible dust on an already clean counter and waited for either customers or Rosalie.

The chalkboard sign inched its way across the floor, tilted at the door, and inched its way onto the sidewalk outside. They finally had a day with no rain. As Hernando watched, words appeared on the chalkboard as if an invisible person were standing there writing them. For all he knew there might be one. The sign read:

"Thank you," he called politely as the words finished.

The art on the walls today was definitely baked-goods themed. It looked like bold pastel Akihabara style. Hernando wasn't sure what he thought of it, but the store had put it up, so on the wall it stayed.

Groovy Tunes: Thursday 7-26

Kaylin was here, but looking a bit rough. Long training sessions with the Hawks, followed by a night of midwifery had left her more than a little exhausted. But randomly the pizza guy had stopped by and delivered two large pizzas with everything, so pretty soon Kaylin will at least have a full stomach!

“We’re watching an animated film today,” Peter announced. “But I watched this one first to make sure it wasn’t traumatizing.” He paused. “Very strange, but not traumatic. So, get your food and drink, and settle in.”

When they had, he pressed play.

Covent Garden Flowers, Thursday

Half the plants in the shop were stinging nettles.

And they were hiding, as Octavia discovered when she accidentally touched one when she reached for a completely harmless flower and felt the burn on her fingers. So, half of her shift was spent combing through the store - with gloves on - to find all the nettles and put them on a side table like they were a special sale they were doing.

The other half of her shift was spent at the counter, reading up on the uses of stinging nettles. Turned out, there were many.

So at least they were potentially useful, if annoying.
