With the paperwork already prepared and ready for when Summer would stop in later to make everything all Official, Amaya was left to contemplate just how settled she'd actually gotten in this store over the months. Funny, that. She'd stumbled into the ownership of Turtle & Canary thanks to a false deal with a tricky little gnome and now she was almost sad to be passing the torch.

Almost. The only reason she wound up with this place was because she thought she was getting a forge. And now that she finally had one, she was ready to focus on that. She liked the store, but the place demanded a lot of time and attention. Whoever owned it would certainly have her work cut out for her.

The hardest part, really, was Apu, who kept giving her these withering little looks whenever he caught her eye. "Oh, stop it," she said, snorting slightly. "You're going to be fine. I'm sure Gelatin Girl's going to be a fine boss."

He clearly wasn't convinced. "She's smart," Amaya offered. "A little weird, sure, but I think she's got a good head on her shoulders. You'll be in good hands."

How did he do that? How did he make his look even more withering? "She can't be worse than that Merchant of Miracles. Or probably half the things you've dealt with since you've been here forever, Apu."

Reluctantly, he had to concede to that point, but he still looked firmly stuck in his judgey-pants. Amaya sighed. "If anything," she offered finally, "I worked in the contract that I'll be the go-to for maintenance as long as I'm on the island. If it's really bad, you can just intentionally break something and I'll be right over."

That seemed to placate him. For now.

Sparkle took one step out of his portal back to the island today, took one long, suspicious glance around, and then shrugged and made his way in to work.

Everything was quiet. He'd be lying if he said he trusted it. But maybe after what he'd hurried back for last weekend, he was kind of waiting to see if the other shoe was about to drop for him at some point, too.

So far, so good. He sighed, opened up shop, and then busied himself for the rest of the day looking over fall fashions to order in. Hm. Dark wash, wide-leg jeans. Chunky sweaters. Hey, duster coats. He could appreciate a good duster coat...

Demon Marcus was open, and Sparkle was side-eyeing a skin-tight sheer turtleneck with a print that would have looked right at home on a granny's upholstery and wondering why?

Kanan showed up for his Luke's shift a little earlier than usual in the hopes that he could coerce the cook into maybe making breakfast for him before customers started coming in for a change.

"... What do you mean, we don't serve pancakes anymore?"

The cook gave a solemn nod of his head.

"They just don't feel right. You wouldn't want me to make something that doesn't feel right, would you?"

"And what's that supposed to mean, 'feel right?' This is a diner! Pancakes have been our Sunday thing for a year and a half now! It's on the menu!"

It was Rey's last shift here, and she was spending most of it making sure she'd done everything she needed to do. She wasn't trying to leave anything unfinished, but there was also no sense in starting anything new, which left her in some sort of weird work limbo.

So, if when her stuff was done she slacked off a little, well, it'd be her last chance for a while.
