Covent Garden Flowers; Tuesday [09/11].
Tuesday, September 11th, 2018 06:23 amAlthough Astrid greatly appreciated the Haydn that was trumpeting out of the daffodils with the bluebells ringing an accompaniment today, she was spending most of her shift at the flower shop that day staring down at a mostly blank piece of lined paper. She'd already scribbled down Hi, Mom for a greeting, and that's where she stopped, because she wasn't sure exactly what to write to her mother this week. Did she be truthful and reveal what she found out? What would Ingrid even think of that? She'd probably assume Astrid was on drugs, or that she was attempting to be creative, which would lead to the inevitable refrain of how disappointed she was in Astrid's faulty imagination.
So she wouldn't even bother, she concluded, and eventually got to writing: Last week, a friend invited me to go with her and some other kids to D.C. Unsurprising, I spent most of my time in the National Gallery, getting to see Van Gogh's self-portrait in person was amazing, much better than that hefty disappointment this is realizing the Mona Lisa at the Lourve is not only so unimaginably small but guarded by a sea of gawking tourists...
Feeling a small bit of rebelliousness, she decided to add The flowers are making wonderful music today toward the end, just to see what Ingrid would make of it, but she'd be willing to bet that she'd barely pay attention enough to notice.
Covent Garden is open!
