Pick Your Poison, Wednesday

Help, help, Halloween was biting Sparkle bad and it was only the third day of the month. He'd picked up a little mini-pumpkin and set it on the counter, it was his mini-pumpkin and he'd named it Earl and he was gonna adore it until it rotted away or until someone else threw it out, whichever came first.

Sparkle really needed a second fish or something.

Instead of running out to do that, though, he was just going through the soaps and re-packaging the ones in orange and purple to make cute little Halloween sets, which he was arranging by the till in the hopes that he could score some impulse sales while October descended upon them like a creppy, spoopy thing.

He was contemplating if he wanted to make, like, a playlist. Maybe a playlist was too over the top? He'd save that one for Demon Marcus, instead.

Blackstone Foundry and Forge, Wednesday

It still wasn't the open sea, wasn't a ship with a crew who had practically become family over the years, and it most definitely wasn't home, but Fjord felt a little more at ease this week as he made his way in for his second shift at the forge. Today he couldn't help but note the scattered bits and pieces of Amaya's newest project, something that he figured was once again inspired by last night's movie class, though the purpose of any of the components was well beyond even his best guess.

He decided to make himself useful while he waited, and made his way over to the collection of blunted and dull daggers that Amaya had pointed him to last week. He'd get to work sharpening them, and possibly also just getting a feel for how each one sat in his hand. Never could have too many daggers, right?

Fandom Counseling, Wednesday

With all the people on the island last week, Hannibal had been busy with quite a lot of family trauma on behalf of the NPC population of the island. Which might have been very boring, if this had been Baltimore, but Fandom family traumas had an interest all their own, when 'that obnoxious relative' was 'that relative that refuses to believe in alternate dimensions'.

Things seemed to be tapering off a little now, though, so he was left with writing everything up in his own special shorthand and ordering extra rum to bribe the squirrels with.

But meanwhile, his office was open.

Covent Garden Flowers, Wednesday

The flowers seemed really happy today, warbling a little and standing up very straight.

Peter smiled as he watered them, but as he walked around, a few of them seemed to hang their heads in disappointment. He shook his own. "Don't worry, Nell will be back next week," he told them. "You'll just have to make do with me and the others until then."

They seemed okay with that, more or less, though clearly they enjoyed having her around.

The kittenwillow jumped up on his shoulder, dug in its claws, and went to sleep.

The park- Wednesday morning

Between the Force and Fandom being Fandom, Jaina knew that if something told her to come back, she should come back. Jag was gone on a diplomatic trip that she had absolutely not wanted to go on, and by now he knew that if she said she had to do something, trust it. Getting a portal had been relatively painless, which was good because the boys were too young to see their mom murder anybody, and then it was time to come back.

Jaina has stopped off at the Perk for coffee and then headed to the park to let them run around for a while, and well, one was. Dax was curled up on the bench next to her, while Daniel kept worrying her by trying to toddle over by the ducks no matter how many times she told him no. They kept walking away, and Jaina could intervene without needing to move, but she was trying not to be overprotective if there wasn't a problem. So she'd just keep a careful eye on things and let it distract her from everything else.

Turtle & Canary, Wednesday

There weren't orange and black Squishies today, either. But Jughead hadn't even tried, so, that was no surprise. Everything else was aggressively orange-and-black, though, so there was that. Seriously, as Jughead was assembling a display of various bathroom products in Halloween colors, he had to wonder if anyone really needed a toilet brush to be holiday-appropriate in color.

He was pretty sure he didn't, at least.

Breq had slept badly. She had been dreaming, but preferring not to think about that, she started out to do a stock inventory.

A very thorough stock inventory, while the stereo refused to play anything but melancholy piano music. Breq almost missed the Silence. She didn't notice that she was crying.
