Pick Your Poison, Wednesday

Sparkle was frowning a little bit as he came into Pick Your Poison and surveyed the stock situation on the shelves. It wasn't that they were looking bare, exactly, it was just that, after he'd topped the displays up again, the stock in the back was actually beginning to noticeably dwindle.

Still no word from Iris, either. Which meant that Sparkle was spending his morning googling weird shit like homemade bath bomb recipes, and fifty ways to use rosewater, and, somewhere in the middle of the day after googling how to make soap and stressing himself out over the possibility of working with lye because where the hell was Iris, cute kittens in stupid hats.

The kittens helped, honestly.

The fact that he was learning far more about homemade bath and beauty products than he strictly needed to know for this job was... eh. It passed the time.

Blackstone Foundry and Forge, Wednesday

Fjord had been mildly concerned, after yesterday, about the idea of going to work at the forge today. Not that he didn't enjoy the work, but given that he couldn't so much as hold his hand out yesterday without summoning his falchion (and that he'd been stuck mid-summon at one point and that was an experience he didn't care to ever repeast), he'd worried that there wasn't much he'd be able to do here anyway.

Surprise seawater splashing around the place while working with superheated metal would have been... not great.

Fortunately, things were back to normal today, which meant that after he came in and made damn sure everything was in its usual working order, he was setting himself up with the sword he'd been working on, throwing a lot of yesterday's frustration into the swing of a hammer and the shaping of his first blade.

It wasn't perfect by any means. It still needed a bit of fine-tuning. But he felt like he was getting a feel for the way the metal reacted to certain blows with certain hammers, and was feeling pretty good about it overall.

Anyway, it took his mind off of yesterday, which really was the best part of all of this at the moment.

Turtle & Canary, Wednesday

Halloween season was finally over. But today, there were two opposing displays in the store. One was decked out in all things healthy: fresh fruit, protein powders in bags of varying sizes, various vacuum-packed things that claimed to contain 'super foods', vitamins, the works. Meanwhile, the other display... just had a lot of chocolate on it. Specifically, bittersweet chocolate, with almonds.

Oh, and also some almonds covered in chocolate.

Jughead wasn't going to ask what any of that was about. He was manning the register and thinking about yesterday morning's radio broadcast that he'd caught by accident. Apparently, the town had a newspaper? Which had to be new, because he was sure he'd checked whether they had one back when he'd moved here and found out the school didn't have one.

He wasn't sure what to do with this information.

Covent Garden Flowers, Wednesday

The Halloween pumpkins were gone, the glitches of yesterday were nowhere in sight, and the shop was being...well, as normal as it ever got. The kittenwillow, which Peter couldn't seem to get to answer to "Tickles" (whether it wasn't used to it yet or was just being a cat was anybody's guess), had decided to climb some of the small trees, and the trees were attempting to shake it off, leaves rustling in a disgruntled chorus.

Eventually, Peter resorted to bribing them to put up with it with extra fertilizer just so he could get some work done.

The flower shop was open!
