Summer had fully intended to get back yesterday, but, of course, it wasn't like there could ever be a holiday at the Smith household that just went by like a normal holiday, that didn't involve something going slightly haywire and having to spend most of the time trying to squash down a stealth-attack of a race of turkey-like aliens using time-honored Thanksgiving traditions to masquerade as dinner, only to then rise up and attempt to enslave humanity. Or at the very least most of America

It was fun. Even if Summer was never going to be able to look at stuffing the same way ever again.

And she wasn't at all surprised to come into the store that day and find that Apu had already decked the place out for the holidays, though he really shouldn't have been surprised when she gave him her notes on it: "More tinsel, more sparkly garlands, we've got loads of space here, we should really use it to our advantage. But not Santa Claus stuff; I have a thing about Santas, it's a..." She waved her hand. "...long story."

Smith Family Holidays, yo. They had a way of ruining everything you thought was normal about this stuff.

The staff today were all in the ugliest sweaters Miguel had ever seen, and Santa hats, and were chattering nonstop about the awesome deals they'd found yesterday.

Miguel settled his sunglasses firmly on his face and went straight for the coffee. He did not want to know.

At least it left him alone at the specials board.

The Perk - Saturday early afternoon

Hernando headed to the Perk after he closed the shop on Saturday. He truly enjoyed spending time in his shop but there were also times he wished to be a customer somewhere he could sit and watch the greater community walk around outside.

He obtained a cinnamon coffee and sat at one of the tables. A newspaper taken from his pocket was unfolded and he began to read. It was a paper from Mexico City because he liked to keep up with the news back home and just across the causeway in the nearby town was a small bodega that carried them.

An advert inside for one of Lito's movies. He quickly folded past that page.

The weather outside was warmish but also very damp. Sporadic rain would come and go, hitting the windows with a soft patter. It made being indoors with a hot coffee a simple but comfortable thing.

Syndulla Scrap, Saturday

Hera had missed opening the place yesterday, so she was here today instead. There was always plenty of paperwork to do, though she had no idea where most of it even came from. Or went, come to that.

There was also a new shipment that seemed to consist of nothing but wheels of various types, from big wooden one with spokes to little plastic ones that looked like they belonged on toys. Chopper was having a fun time sorting through them all, seeing if he could make use of any of them, and Hera was mostly just standing back and checking off an inventory list as he tossed them aside into piles by size.
