The books today were in fine form.

If by "fine form" you meant "dashing all over the place like they'd had too much caffeine or sugar".

Bob did not. He spent the start of the day trying to chase them, then the next part yelling at them to calm down, then the rest of it just giving up on physicality and scowling from an invisible point just above the counter. If anybody needed him, he could show up. Maybe.

The Magic Box was open! Mind the books.

Jono stepped into the Groovy Tunes expecting some manner of madness around here, somewhere. What he found was... normal. Quiet. The stereo was tuning in to the radio station just fine. None of the instruments were toys or candy or turned into jingle bells or whatever.

Just... his music shop. The way it was meant to be.

He didn't trust it, but he settled in with his guitar and waited for customers anyway. Maybe eventually he'd figure out what today's holiday weirdness was. Maybe he wouldn't. He could live with two days in a row being relatively left alone, after all.

Sparkle was having fun in the clothing store today, putting out a display in the front window with the mannequins artfully arranged in winter gear, having snowball fights with handfuls of carefully balled-up cotton. Mostly it was meant to showcase the gloves and mittens, the winter boots, the hats and scarves and winter jackets, but if he was being honest, he was mostly just having fun posing them out.

Especially the poor one hunkering down in the corner of the display, hands over its head, getting pelted with cotton snowballs relentlessly from the others. He'd almost feel bad for it, if it wasn't a mannequin and he didn't find it so funny.

The kitchen staff seemed mostly distracted today. Oh, sure, they were doing their jobs back there, but they seemed less engaged with one another than usual. It took Kanan a while to figure out what had captivated their attention, too. A trip back to collect a place of pancakes revealed the cook, the dishwasher, and the busboy all huddled around a phone screen, watching some manner of cartoon about a man made of snow.

Kanan leaned in to watch for a moment, and then shrugged, shook his head, and gathered up the order to bring out for the customer.

Welcome to Luke's!
Today's Specials:
Eggnog Pancakes
Chocolate-Peppermint Pancakes
Gingerbread Pancakes

Kanan just let them be back there. If it kept them out of trouble, sure, they could watch cartoons.

As far as she could tell, today was a day where Rosa wouldn't have to worry about the island throwing something like tinsel rain or stalking stringed lights at the for her dog to get all into. And if there was something, she had no doubt that Arlo 2 would be able to locate it in no time. She figured, though, since she wasn't really doing anything else, she'd better get the dog out while she could, making sure she had a thermos of hot coffee for herself to stave off some of the cold as they headed to the park, where she planned to just let Arlo 2 work out some of that pent-up energy she always seemed to have chasing all the ducks and flamingos.

While also mildly wondering how the hell there were still flamingos here this time of year.

Or any time of year, for that matter.

And then she reminded herself that there was no point in questions like that, anyway, and yet she still found herself asking them.

Who knew Netflix produced that many shitty Christmas movies? Atton hadn't. And he hadn't been eager to find out.

"Tino, can you turn that off already?" he yelled, for the fifteenth time, and didn't get a response, for the fifteenth time. "Space!"

Well. At least it kept him occupied. Your bartender would be behind the bar, messing around with cocktails, looking more and more irritated as the night went on.

Right, so Beau still hadn't quite grasped what the hell exactly this holiday was supposed to be about, apart from winter and aggressive cheer and what she was now firmly convinced was the most evil song in the history of everything.

She'd just been opening up the front door of the gym this morning, nibbling on one of the pieces of bacon she'd stashed in her pocket after breakfast yesterday, when a giant mechanical version of that bearded guy in the red suit just appeared on a rooftop across the street. He looked to be surrounded by several short people she guessed were gnomes or something, all of whom appeared to be hard at work, and frankly at this distance Beau couldn't tell if they were happy to be doing it or not.

Also, the whole effect was kind of unsettling.

"What the --" She rubbed her eyes, blinked hard, and shook her head, but nope, there it still was, so this probably wasn't some weird hangover side effect. "Hey! Kinda-creepy red dude! Your labor practices are super sketchy, you know that?"

It didn't respond, of course, so she just rolled her eyes and flipped it off with both hands. "Yeah, that's what I thought you'd say," she yelled up toward the rooftop, then stalked into the gym to get things set up for the day. She was never going to stop side-eyeing this holiday, ever, at this rate.

[[Iiiiiiiiii have new icons thanks to CR's AMAZING new opening credits sequence, and this was a nice excuse to use one of them, whee. (Ohmygod I actually managed to have more icons than I have icon slots I thought this would never happen.) Usual SP disclaimer applies, but post and gym are open!]]
