Miguel waited until he'd had his coffee to even argue with the cook.

"It's mashup day!" the man declared.

"How can you even have mashups without mashed potatoes?"

"There is a difference between mashing and mashing up."

"Fine, whatever, you do you. I'll handle them."

The shop was easier to open today as she was her usual size. The dancing mice would have been less annoying but were gone, replaced by two flamingos, sleepily standing on one leg in a corner.. Breq wasn't sure if they had sought shelter from the winter cold or if they had appeared from somewhere else, but let them be. They didn't pay much attention to the music, but got a bit annoyed when Breq got too close as she practiced the ballet steps she had learnt in class. Should someone show up she would obviously help them, but for now this was practice time.

Covent Garden Flowers, Saturday

Today was the first day Seivarden had seen Tickles in the shop since the day she had argued over it with Fenris while they had both been children. Perhaps the kittenwillow had taken a dislike to her, or perhaps she smelled too much of Issa - Seivarden preferred the latter reason - but whatever it was, it had now curled up in a flowerpot. Seivarden  just held out her fingers for a moment and put a bowl of water beside the pot, then turn to deal with the big problem today.

The shop now had a corpse flower on sale. Seivarden put it outside, but the smell lingered.
