notarockharpist: (Reverent Kneeling)
[personal profile] notarockharpist
Yasha had been here for just over a week now.

She still wasn't entirely sure what she was doing here. She wasn't avoiding Beau exactly (for reasons), although shortly before the Iron Shepherds had kidnapped her she'd made up her mind to try and keep her at arm's length, and it was going to be a little bit difficult to keep doing that in a place this small. There were many new things to experience -- she had spent most of last night awake, flipping through channels on the television and trying to figure out what was going on about 80% of the time -- and she was endlessly fascinated by both the plant life and the ocean, but she was just ... feeling a bit adrift, beyond that. She'd thought that western Wynandir had been a vastly different world from Xhorhas, and it had, but that difference absolutely paled in comparison to this.

All week, she had been searching the horizon for signs of a storm, lightning in the distance, some kind of sign from the Stormlord as to what she should do next. Or maybe -- all right, yes, definitely hoping he would have some duty for her to perform elsewhere, even just for a day or two.

So far she'd seen no such sign.

And so today, after a brief foray into the preserve, Yasha found herself at the top of Selkie Peak, overlooking the lake, lost in thought. Alone, like she preferred to be. She knelt at the edge of the peak, absently turning the stem of a marigold she'd plucked somewhere along the way around in her fingers.

"I'm still not sure what you want from me here," she said out loud. "I -- I don't even know -- can you hear me when I'm so far away?"

The sky didn't change, but for just a brief moment she could sense the crisp scent of ozone in the air, like the moment just after a lightning strike; it was a tiny thing, but she found it immemsely reassuring and for just as brief of a moment, Yasha offered a faint smile up toward the heavens. She didn't know if the Stormlord could see her all the way in another world, but he hadn't abandoned her.

"All right, then. All right. As long as you haven't left me ... I'll stay."

[OOC: Gonna be slow for a bit while I run errands but open, should anyone actually want to.]

"Am I -- no, Jester, I'm at work right now, come on, dude!"

So Jester had figured out that she could use her Sending spell across universes. This meant that Beau was getting several messages a day that rambled on excitably for 25 words and almost inevitably got cut off in the middle of a sentence.

It also meant that Beau would occasionally pause in the middle of what she was doing, tilt her head slightly like she was listening, laugh, and then answer what seemed like a really random question out loud. Maybe people would just think she had, like, a Bluetooth headset on? She was pretty sure it wasn't the weirdest thing around here on any given day, anyway.

"Hey, Jes, you should totally send Yasha a message, too. Don't burn all your spells on me."

There were less companionable ways to spend a work day, though. She wasn't complaining.

[OOC: Open! Inevitable beginning-of-month plus appointment SP is a thing, though.]
