notallbluemonks: (Long Shot With Staff)

The second that Beau stepped through the doorway of the gym this morning, something round and about fist-sized came flying at her head. She snapped up a hand and managed to catch it just before it smashed into her nose, and -- it was a rubber band ball. From the front desk, apparently, and thrown by no one she could see, which was a damn shame because how was she supposed to throw it back if she didn't know what constituted 'back' in the first place?

"Dude," she said out loud, "there's plenty of shit around here to work out your throwing arm with that doesn't involve the office supplies, okay? Just saying."

Not that she had anyone to actually address with this, so it mostly just looked like she was tossing a rubber band ball up and down in one hand and glaring at the world at large, which was ... not really all that out of the ordinary, was it?

[OOC: Iiiiiiiii don't knoooooooow. Gym/post open, SP likely, etc. etc. etc.]

Something was definitely up when Summer got to the store that day; Apu had that sort of focus and busy-ness in him that immediately sent her into a suspicious and slightly nervous mode. Especially since she was making no effort to hide that she was watching him closely and knew something was up, but she was going to give him the benefit of the doubt and let him finish.

And then there was a sign. Summer narrowed her eyes at him with particular pointedness before going out to read what the sign he'd just put out actually said.

Welcome to Turtle & Canary!

One Free Package of Mostly Fresh Toilet Paper

...

"Mostly fresh? What does that even--" Thankfully, Summer managed to stop herself, holding up her hands, halting that entire train of thought. "You know what? No. Never mind. I don't need to know, I don't want to know, all I do know is just...no, okay? Just no."

But Summer! How else were they going to get rid of it?

It was a warm, temperate sort of day, when the teal deer walked into Diaz & Associates, all legs and bushy tail. There was, at first, a confusion in her striding gait, a moment of bewilderment over how she, a simple Cervidae of a particularly aqua-like hue, would wind up in a place like this, considering the door had a handle and she had no hands, and yet, there she was, sticking out like a sore thumb on an elegant hand. She took a moment to look around, her wide doe eyes soaking in the dim offices, pondering how a fawn like her could und up in a place like this. Again, because of the door, it didn't make any sense, but she was here now, and there was no turning back, so she mustered up a semblance of cool confidence before striding forward toward the woman at the desk, clad in black, like the night, like justice, regarding her with a cool, lifted arch of her brow as she sauntered forward into the room, which held its shadows like secrets, suggestions of the sordid underbelly of this small seaside town and all the implications those secrets might possess...

"...can I help you?" Rosa asked, fully aware of the fact that she was talking to a deer.

The deer just stretched forward and started nibbling cautiously at the arm of the nearest chair.

"Okay," said Rosa, sighing as she got up to usher the deer right back outside. "That's a no."

Two whole ass new cops since she left the force, and yet still no animal control division on this goddamn island.

Diaz & Ass. is open!

Steve trotted the Troopers down to the park for a vigorous training morning of four-way tug-of-war (and he, miraculously, wasn't tied up at the end of it. Yet.) and then a slow jog around the island before clapping his hands together in front of him at the door of the station. "Remember, individuals fail, groups succeed!" he said.

Ralph muttered something not quite under his breath about Steve missing his calling as a fortune cookie writer.

"I heard that!" Steve called after him, frowning.

The Trooper Station is open!

Nell found one of the plants left near the workstation. It was some sort of vine that smelled nice. It seemed friendly enough , hugging at her arm a little, and when she turned her back on it, it actually started braiding part of her hair.

She was sorry to have to untangle it to go answer the phone, but on her break, she sat back and let it braid her hair however it wanted to. It was a bit messy, but maybe it would get better with practice and she enjoyed the leaves it wove into her hair.
