Danny hadn't noticed anything weird going on today. Well, nothing in particular. Possibly because he didn't spend any time one-on-one with anyone throughout the morning. Possibly because the troopers had kept a distance when he did show up at the station. Even waiting until he wasn't nearby to grab their bribe donuts.

Because the amount of PT they'd be forced into if anything happened...

Not that Danny was aware of any of that. He was, for a change, able to get a decent amount of Steve's paperwork done without being interrupted.

Luke's, Thursday

It was paperwork day at Luke's. Duke hated paperwork day. He'd been putting it off for months now, which of course just meant even more paperwork he had to sort through.

"Are you all sure you need to get paid this month?" he asked. And when everyone glared at him, raised his hands. "Joke. Rhetorical joke. In very poor taste. Everyone's getting paid."

More glaring.

"Everyone's getting a holiday bonus?"

His staff went back to work.

". . . Shit, I need to do the Gull's paperwork, too. I miss being a pirate."

Look, Jaye had tried. There'd been a solid attempt. And then she'd been sixteen and there'd been a holiday and now she was just coasting. Especially today.

"Today, let's discuss the ethics of being badgered into kissing someone, specifically by a plant," she said. "Does being told to kiss someone by a plant make you less likely to do it? What the hell does the plant get out of it, anyway? Seriously, what the hell?"

That last part was actually directed at the spring on the ceiling, just waiting.

Eric had been followed around by a very pushy mistletoe since arriving at the bar tonight, which was why he had, so far, kissed eight patrons and also Tiny.

The less said about that, the better.

Today's specials were rum and Coke, Captain and Coke, Jack and Coke, and Long Island ice teas.

The polar bears had apparently paid their tab in product and that was not improving Eric's evening so far. He'd be over in the axe range, throwing things. Tiny will be happy to serve you a non-Coke based drink as well!

The Perk, Thursday afternoon

He'd enjoyed the polar bears and the tinsel had been fine. Stark wasn't sure what might be happening today but getting out of the apartment had been going well so far this week so venturing out again today seemed like a good plan.

He had enough Coke bottles to last a very long time but that was not the right sort of sugary caffeinated beverage so he headed to The Perk for something else seasonal.

He and his peppermint white chocolate mocha were now at a table near the door. And he was, so far, blissfully unaware of any rogue greenery roaming the island.

Trooper Station, Friday

The eggnog thing wasn't terrible- it meant the barista at the Perk had not only given him an eggnog chai latte for half-off, she'd offered him a second one for free. Not that he really knew what he'd do with an extra cup of tea, but that wasn't the point. The point was, he wasn't terribly inconvenienced by the eggnog in the taps, even if it meant he'd skipped his usual morning run since a post-run shower was clearly out of the question.

What was annoying was Calvin's pouting about not being invited to Rey and Annie's party tonight.

"Come on," Liam said, shaking his head. "You literally never talk to anyone outside of what's required of you for work. You wouldn't go even if you were invited."

"Well, sure, but that's not the point," Calvin argued. "Sometimes it's just nice to be included."

Liam... had to admit that was actually kind of fair.
