Okay, so learning blacksmithing in his class earlier that day was pretty cool, but he had a newfound respect for it because he hadn't realized how exhausting it would be, and he figured if he ever took up blacksmithing, he'd never have to worry about skipping arm day, because damn.

The only problem with it was that by the time he was done, he was sweaty and tired and just sort of wanted to shower up, scarf down some food, and have a nap or something. He managed to do the first two before he had to come in, and then...

...the third one sort of took care of itself. It really didn't help that the stereo seemed to be in the mood for playing soft, soothing lullabies, either.

It'd be fine, though, right? It's not like they were usually very busy, and he was totally just resting his eyes! He'd wake up if anyone actually came in! Other people napped at their jobs, like, all the time. It was fine!

Apparently they had a fire station. Sure, Jesse had seen a mention of it in some old files somewhere, but they were... very old files.

"I really wish I could just hire someone to deal with all of this paperwork," she muttered. "I have... so much paperwork to update now."

Nina shrugged brightly. "Technically, the island hired you to do the paperwork!"

Jesse rubbed at her face. "I'm starting to miss having problems I can shoot," she muttered.

Duke came into work that day with a boisterous greeting over his crate of fresh seafood -- only to see his kitchen staff scramble to shove something away and failing spectacularly at looking "normal".

"Nope," he said, after a moment of watching them. "I don't want to know."

There was a penis cake behind the bar today. Eric had seen more than his share of drunken bachelorette parties thanks to Fangtasia, and all of Tiny's protests about it being a wizard cake were falling on deaf ears.

It did inspire the strawberry daiquiri drink special tonight, though.

Along Apocalypse Ave, Near Galactica Point, Thursday Evening

Lucifer hadn't been lying to Duke when he said he hated being alone with his thoughts. Just... sometimes his mood propelled him to anyway, and while the worst of the edge had come off his pensive state of mind after Octavia's visit on Tuesday, he still felt... unusually quiet.

Quiet enough to go for a walk along this side of the island, instead of going to see if there was anyone willing to be bothered in Fandom's port. He had his long grey coat back on, and he strolled idly over stairs and along the winding path by Fandom's outer walls.

Occasionally stopping to stare out over the water.

Not long from now, he'd be surprised with a phone call from Miss Lopez, and he'd be happy to let her chattering wash over him and distract him. For now, he was just... ambling.
