One of the things that Shunsui did genuinely take pride in was his ability to nap in almost any given circumstances, and that ability had been tried and tested on many occasions, with very successful results, but Shunsui had never realized until this particular day that he may have actually met a match.

He was not a violent man. He was very dedicated in his pacifism, which was another point of pride. And that, too, was being tested, as he was feeling an oddly murderous compulsion to find out whoever had decided to make Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day a thing, and gave Apu-san the means to celebrate it with gusto.

"I am going to have to talk to Summer-chan," he noted, mostly to himself, with another faint twitch as a period of blissful silence was then interrupted by another series of steady, determined popping bubbles, "about finding vendors with more environmentally friendly packaging..."

Because someone couldn't help but latch onto other people's ideas and exploit them for their own money and profit and post-writing ease, it would appear that Caritas definitely was still having a daiquiri problem, only this time, it wasn't strawberry daiquiris, but banana.

Open a bottle of whiskey: daiquiri. Pour from a tap: daiquiri. Glass of water? Daiquiri.

All banana.

And honestly? The daiquiri part wasn't really the most offensive part for Summer so much as it was the flavor.

"Like, ohmygod," she complained, to no one in particular because it wasn't like Tino was going to bother listen to her, "that's literally the worst daiquiri flavor, too..."

But at least the jello shots were fine since she actually made those at home on her own dollar and not using Caritas liquor?

"Right, so, who here turned into something stupid this weekend?" he asked. "I did not. The weirdness skipped me entirely. Possibly for the first time since I moved here. But someone I care a lot about did, which brings me to our discussion question for the day: how to you talk a mermaid into sleeping on land, so she doesn't drown when she turns back into not being a mermaid the next morning?" He spread his hands. "Anyone? Technically, 'make it a royal quest' did work, but she still ended up very miserable and cold on Monday."

The end of the causeway and into town, Wednesday afternoon

"I'm not calling a plumber for you, Vic. I'm not... no... no... Okay, yes, technically I guess I am your landlord right now, but... is this why Dean kicked you out?" Travis winced. "Yeah, I regretted it as soon as I said it. Look, I have to--I have to--Vic--I'm hanging up now. I am... Yes I am!" He sighed and hung up, tucking his phone away.

His Uber driver glanced at him. "Ex?"

"Best friend." Travis gave him a quick, polite smile, and climbed out, dragging his duffel bag along with him. "It's a long story." He patted the roof of the sedan, "Thanks!" then stepped back and watched it drive away. Then turned to take a look at his new home.

"Really? It's all stairs?" He let out a deep sigh and adjusted his duffel on his shoulder. At least Maya would be happy he was keeping in shape.

Well, last weekend had happened and it was time to stop making things weird. Which was why Danny was graciously allowing Steve to win at bowling. Out of the kindness of his heart.

And because Steve's level of competitiveness was off the charts.

Because nothing said fun times quite like bowling, lukewarm beer, and something that could only generously be called 'pizza'.

Look at that, Diego and Five were once again able to be together in the same room without immediately getting into a slap fight. It was a miracle. The fact that Diego's apartment was clean and Five was no longer in a tunic probably helped. Also the prospect of ice cream was a good lure.

Diego had ordered two black coffees and pointed at a random item on the menu without really paying attention to what he was ordering. That might end in regret.

The Devil's Nest, Wednesday Evening

It had only been a couple of days, but so far Octavia felt the breakfast deal between her and Duke seemed to be working. It was... nice, to not leave it fully up to whims and moods when they saw each other. Something felt a little more solid, a little less unwieldy. Like knowing that whatever happened during her shift tonight, wherever she ended up staying the night, she would still see him tomorrow morning, over breakfast.

Of course, first she had to actually get through this shift. No piano or jazz this week, either. The playlist was a little heavy on Florence + The Machine and similar artists, and had not been handpicked by Octavia. But she also didn't mind it.

As the night wore on, though, she was starting to notice the club seemed to be curiously out of limes.

And rum.

(She was yet to notice the lack of bananas.)
