Rosa needed to do some follow-up on a lead that might allow her to break into the police union's offices back up in Brooklyn for some files (don't ask), but first? She had to brag to a bunch of internet strangers about how she totally called a certain character development/plot point more than a year ago.

This was...very important news. It was, like...reverse jossing. She felt like someone somewhere probably owed her money over it, or something.

And then she'd get back to work, and probably head out a little early to follow up on this case, but right now, fluffing her own feathers was way more important.

Even though it had been a few days since, Sakaki had been thinking a lot about the discussion she'd had in her philosophy class, about whether the cats really couldn't help being malicious toward her, or if their intent really was that viscious and cruel. No matter what, though, she couldn't imagine it was due to cruelty, she just couldn't! Her eyes got all watery just thinking about the idea that such sweet creatures could be so intentionally mean! But there had to be something, right? Why they responded to her the way they did. She had to figure it out if they were going to make any progress, because, if she didn't, then it seemed to suggest that they really did just hate her and that was...

...that was...


...unacceptable!

So she tried something a little bit different today, keeping her distance from the cats no matter how much she wanted to go over and pet on when they were sleeping and snoring adorably, or when they let out an irressitable kitty yawn, or were playing around with each other in an impossibly cute game of kitten wrestling.

No, she stayed her distance, but she did leave little special treats for them here and there. They might not realize that the treats were coming from her, not at first, but maybe eventually...she just had to fight for kindness with kindness.

When Summer got into work that day, after a very awesome and very busy and at one point very drunk weekend in New York, she couldn't help just sort of narrow her eyes with an odd sense of disapproval at the literal wall of spam that greeted her a few steps into the store.

"Why?" she asked, not feeling like she needed to elaborate, but Apu insisted that the wall of spam was always there, there was always a wall of spam here every Monday morning, had she just not noticed?

She had not noticed, and so she didn't really believe him that this was apparently a thing that happened every Monday, just this...wall of spam, but whatever, she had work to do, anyway, and at least Apu seemed to have slept a little on National Tell a Joke Day, because Summer did not think she could handle that right now.
