in_sidon_we_trust: (bright laugh)

This had happened before, of course, so Sidon knew exactly what to expect when he started to have dreams of his sister and feel that pull toward the woods. It was a little surprising, though; he didn't think he'd be so lucky as to get another visit like this from Mipha, and she agreed that it probably wouldn't have normally happened, but things had changed, hadn't they? Vah Ruta was acting up again, there were more monsters awakening all over Hyrule, the Calamity was gaining more power, she could feel it, creeping into the cogs and gears of the Divine Beast that had become her grave so, so long ago.

And so they talked, but they also swam, exploring the vast ocean around the island and finding little spots to rest and talk some more, about the difficult times ahead, and about how proud Mipha was of her...not-so-little-anymore! brother, and of duty and honor and bravery....

It had been a good time, a troubling time, a worisome time and an encouraging time, and he knew, from last time, that there was only so much time left, but there was one thing he hadn't had the chance to do with her last time that he would absolutely not forget about this time around.

"It's called pizza!" he told her excitedly, as they sat at a booth, one of them far more comfortable than the other, but Sidon's beam was so bright, he didn't seem to even mind being cramped into the space that seemed almost comically too small for him while it was just a little too large for Mipha, her little clawed feet barely touching the floor as she sat, waiting for their meal to finish. "And it's spectacular! I still have no stomach for most food around here, but wait until you sink your teeth into this delectable delicacy, dear sister! It is transformative!"

And how could Mipha not just simply take a moment to look up at her brother and marvel at him a little? At what he'd become and the ways in which he'd undeniably changed, and yet was invariably that same brave little hatchling she'd had to leave behind? A small hand went to her mouth as she ducked her head against a giggle. "I'm sure it will be every bit as marvelous as you say. I cannot wait to try it."

defenderofdesmoines: (annie - coffee coffee coffee)

Given that Annie was giving all things Hargreeves a fairly wide berth at the moment for the sake of, you know, their patriarch staying unsinged/her own person staying un-teleported, she figured she could throw her efforts into entertaining Ms. Stillwell for the remainder of her visit.

Which, again, was so weird, because they'd only ever had a handful of half-hour meetings when Madelyn had been alive, but whatever. Annie actually kind of liked her this way. It seemed like since she'd died, she found she had nothing to really lose, and it gave her a frankness that was kind of refreshing.

And that was why Annie had had the brilliant idea to pull out her copy of her new contract from its drawer in her filing cabinet, and brought it out for Madelyn to read over coffee at the Perk this morning.

(Was this maybe to just afford Annie some peace and quiet with her own coffee and her phone while Madelyn read through a fifty-odd-page document and offered the occasional comment about how good a lawyer she'd hired? Yes. Yes, it absolutely was.)

Rey had gotten a bomb dropped on her the other day, and she wouldn't say she was handling it well. Mostly she was handling it by being quiet and looking for distractions because too much quiet let her think too much.

And today the gremlin didn't show up, leaving her to handle work that she was focusing too hard on, meaning she was getting through it too fast. So this was really not working out the way she needed it to.

Silver knew that people were dealing with some things today. While he was sympathetic to their plight, he did mentally pat himself on the back for no dead people showing up to see him. Of course, it was easier to avoid when you did your very best to only have superficial relationships for the most part.

So he would sit here with his rum, drinking for his usual reasons instead of sad ones.

Dwight was trying very hard not think too much about day it was and what it meant for the time he and Lizzie had left together. He wanted to focus as much as he could on just spending time with her and showing her around the island.

And so it was they were sitting inside, enjoying the air conditioning and indulging in a rather ridiculously oversized banana split they were both working their way through. Dwight watched Lizzie laugh and talk about everything she had seen on the island so far.

Tonight would come when it did, but until then he was going to think about anything and everything other than having to say goodbye.

"Oiy, that was my cherry!" he yelled with a laugh as Lizzie popped it into her mouth with a giggle.

For two full days, as the dead wandered the island, the stone had merely been a stone. With the sun sinking behind the horizon on Sunday, that changed. Its light pulsed softly, growing in intensity each time, until it summoned the mist back from the edges of the clearing.

And so were the dead drawn back to the stone, its call gentle but insistent: come home.

[[ for your teary goodbyes. ]]
