Furnado Animal Shelter; Monday [09/20].

They'd apparently gotten a new animal at the shelter over the weekend, and Sakaki was given the task of making the newest little guy feel comfortable and clean. And the vet knew, by now, that in giving Sakaki that task, she was going to pretty much just be working on that, since there was no way the poor girl would be able to recover and focus on anything else when there was an adorably squeaking otter involved.

Even after the little guy settled down to rest, that was the kind of squee you would end up carrying around with you all day!

Since Rosa knew that things were going to be in a frustratingly convoluted red-tape gridlock with her NYPD case for at least a little while, she figured she deserved a day where she could at least try to avoid anything unnecessarily stressful just so she didn't wind up just punching a hole through a wall or something.

Which was why she was msostly just sitting back comfortably in her chair with some Nancy Meyers movies playing in marathon, because there was no way for Rosa to be in a bad mood if Nancy Meyers movies were in the picture.

Maybe she could even find one that was tangentially related to mathematics, so she'd have an excuse to just put it on for her class instead of, you know, actually teaching more math, ugh.

But don't worry. She was definitely sitting on a copy of Stand and Deliver to bust out when she was really done with the whole teaching math business or they'd managed to actually get past the concepts that she herself felt she had a decent grasp on.

Although, really, considering the classes so far, she didn't think they'd be reaching advanced trig any time soon, either.

The Beach- Monday

 It was another early morning for Dwight. But at least this time he had managed to be up AFTER the sun had started to rise, so that was progress at least. With a slow day planned in the shop, he decided to hit the beach as soon as it was light enough and get a quick workout in to start off the day.

So Dwight was at the beach and was actually enjoying him impromptu workout. He started with a swim and then did a nice water run through the nearly knee deep water along the shore, and finished it up with a nice jog along the sandy shore to wind down.

When he was finished, Dwight sank down on the blanket he had laid out on the beach and reached into the cooler for a drink as he enjoyed the view out over the water. And he had to admit, this was not at all a bad way to start off the day!

The Magic Box, Monday

Right, well. As promised, Eliot's little conversation at the bar on Saturday night had led to some truly spectacular nightmares. Enough that Eliot had decided last night to simply not sleep and see how that worked.

Which led to him squinting unhappily around the shop, clutching a cup of coffee during his first ever shift working (*shudder*) retail.

"Right, well. Let's make sure our darling new-to-witchcraft boss hasn't managed to set up any accidentally curse-like arrangements," he muttered. And sat down behind the counter.

And stayed there.

Look, if she hadn't managed to curse herself yet, she was probably doing fine. His time was clearly better spent sitting behind the counter, having a vague staring contest with a weirdly manic little Halloween cat sculpture.

Steve was in bright and early today, much to the Troopers' distinct disapproval. Perky Steve meant extra PT from Steve.

And yes, just as they'd learned to expect, Steve had them climbing cliffs today.

In revenge, Calvin stopped at the Perk and got everyone but Steve a fall-flavored coffee.

Steve was trying not to care.

The Perk, Monday Afternoon

How long could a single magician run on rage and stubbornness alone? Margo had spent her life chasing the edge of that equation, clinging on to sheer momentum on her way past the next obstacle. But momentum ran out eventually. Temporary escapes were, well, temporary. Eventually anyone would have to make their peace with their circumstances, if only for a breather.

And Margo needed a breather. From the relentless drive to find her way home, from owning her armor in front of strangers, from worrying about Eliot and all the ways she and Eliot were both complicated and not right now.

She didn’t make a big fuss at the Perk this time around, ordering her beverage with a lift of her eyebrow and one casual wisecrack. She took her large PSL with her, and found a seat in the corner to stretch out in. She took the book out of her purse — Marduk’s Vexation, because there were benefits to living in the future for a while — and opened it to the very first page.

Time to take a breather. To be someone else for a while.
