Homecoming 2021, Community Center, Saturday Evening

Considering the theme of the dance, it might have been a surprise to walk into the community center and find it looking relatively classy, but a ball was a ball, even if it was a ball for "monsters." There were candleabras and dark gauzey fabrics everywhere, trying to put off an "elegant evening in a castle" vibe. Even the glitter was understated!

There were extra masquerade masks in case anyone needed one, or wanted to switch things up during the night, and bags of candy for anyone who wanted to stop by, even if it was just to sneak a peek. Or get candy in general, there's no judgement here.

Diego was absolutely not dressing up for Halloween after what happened last year. And he wouldn't tolerate anyone else wearing them either. He went as far as to slap off the cat ears Calvin was wearing when he came in. Fool him once, Fandom...

Luke's Diner, Saturday

Homecoming this weekend, plus Halloween, meant the staff had gone all out on the decorating. There were skeletons sitting on booths, bats hanging from the ceiling, and pumpkins plastered everywhere. Miguel was getting his coffee when the dishwasher shoved a pile of accordioned paper into his arms. "We left the spiders for you!"

Miguel scowled.

The staff beamed.

Miguel drank his coffee and sighed.

So there were also spiders hanging from the ceiling and stuck to the walls, all done up in actual spiderwebs.
