So! Prompto had actually, in a dizzying burst of rare self-confidence that he was still reeling from, asked someone out on a date, and he'd texted Liz to see where he should meet her because she was choosing the place. Somewhere called Cafe Fina, which, sure, yeah, he'd recognized it from all his morning jogs around the island, but he didn't think people ever actually went there! Maybe it was more popular back in Liz's day, or something? Anyway, it seemed nice enough, which meant no small amount of flailing about what would be appropriate to wear, but he supposed that was one of the benefits of having an Ignis on your team! Granted, that meant that what Prompto was wearing was more Ignis's style than his own, but it looked nice, and the leather pants meant that maybe, if this went horribly bad, he could just go to the DN afterwards to drown all his sorrows.

And then there was the fact that, in his anticipation and anxiousness, he had...definitely gotten there way too early, and so now there was a lot of time to kill (time to just get more anxious and nervous, really), while he waited, fidgeting, drumming his fingers on his thighs, against each other...he was too distracted nervous to really just play something on his phone, but, hey, at least the location of the restaurant allowed him to get some pretty cool shots in the meantime! Probably a lot of them, too, because that was something that was actually effectively distracting, especially once he tried to maybe catch a good one of how the sunset looked from this corner of the island, over the rooftops and the buildings, and that unique appreciation he had for sunsets and skies full of stars.

[[ for the daaa~aaa~aaaate! But also, it's a free country and a whole-ass business, so feel free to also use for all your rare Cafe Fina needs! ]]

It was November now, which meant that the scary stuff from Halloween should be over, and he didn't quite need to start freaking out about Christmas being terrible yet, so Troy was hoping to have a nice chill day at the store, listening to music and maybe poking around at a keyboard or something (OOOOH, or a keytar!), but noooo. Instead, he had to come in for his shift that day to find a Post-It note from Tisarwat on the register that informed him that the tangled headphone wire moster was aparently missing? And if he saw it, please just untangle it once and for all or something???

As if that was even how it worked?? It was a monster, you couldn't just untangle it!

But after having spent a weekend (okay, well, a Sunday, but still!) as that tangled ball of headphone wires....and now discovering it was missing?? Did that mean...was the tangled ball of headphone wires now somehow a part of him? Like, it was now inside of him somehow instead??

It was all...way, way too many wrinkles for his brain right now, so he was going to ball that Post-It note up and make a free-throw shot into the wastebasket with it as if that would help him pretend he'd never even saw it, and everything was fine, and he was just going to jam out to this sweet new artist that he was really into for some reason and it was honestly a surprise he hadn't heard of this dude before.

Even though last week's disasters had involved very little fire, only a mess and the absolutely expected and totally handwaved result of Tisarwat burning all her caramel into an entirely new layer to the bottom of her pot, Ignis was positive there would be no threat to the community center burning down tonight!

Well...positive was a bit strong of a word, with this group, perhaps. But, at this point, if they managed to burn something down with this lesson, that would involve absolutely no actual cooking, then he would perhaps be impressed, although very reluctantly so.

"One of the best ways to get out of the habit of leaning on take-out and instant meals," he started, since that was the main focus of the class, after all, "is to learn how to make yourself quick and easy lunches that won't get boring too quickly and will be satisfying both to make and to consume. Which is why learning something quick and easy to put together can be invaluable for the busy person. One style of food that can offer countless opportunities for variety as well as a way to incorperate filling grains, protein-rich fish, and fresh vegetables to learn how to effectively make sushi rolls.

"Traditionally done with rice, seaweed, fresh raw fish, and vegetables, there are certainly many different ways to play around with the conventions of the style and make it your own. Or use it to help clear away some ingreidents in your fridge before they go to waste. Even if you aren't a fan of the particularly vegetal flavor of seaweed, one can substitute the wrap in unique ways, such as a thinly made egg, lettuce, or perhaps thin cured meats. The possibilities are, quite frankly, limited only to your imagination and, perhaps, the ability to master the technique.

"So that is what we will be working on today. I have already plenty of rice available for you in this rice cooker--a wise investment for anyone short on time that I would highly recommend--as well as a variety of completely moddable ingredients at your disposal. And one does not even need a special mat to properly roll sushi, even; all one would need is a clean towel. Here. Let me show you how."

And with that, the class had truly begun in earnest.

Irene was fabulous. Irene was cosmopolitan. Irene was wearing a beautiful Burberry coat that cost more than some cars.

Irene was also kind of a basic bitch at heart.

"Do you have the one with the crumbly topping?" she asked the barista as she gazed up at their new selection of holiday drinks, even going so far as to mime sprinkling something with one delicate hand.

And then after determining whether she wanted the caramel brulée thing or the praline thing, she finally took her (praline) drink over to a table to post up with her laptop.

Once more, ostensibly doing some work for the shop. Once more, actually alternating between reading gossip and shopping. ('Tis the season for online shopping, all right?)

Margo had exhausted every last portal magic book she could find on this stupid island, same for the teleporting. That left her no option besides moving on to the weirder shit.

“Wait, bees are horomancers? You’re shitting me.”

If anyone needed her, she was behind the counter reading some really fucking weird bullshit about magical animals.

So Liz had a date this evening and she was finding it extremely hard to concentrate on anything work related. She really hoped she’d picked the right place for them to go and they’d be able to have a nice evening, she really did like Prompto and all of this was a new experience for her. It was … something normal and she didn’t get to really have that. It felt strange to think that nearly six weeks ago was Pittsburg and now here she was back in Fandom for a month and … she was doing, well not completely fine … she was never going to be completely fine but she was doing better than she thought. She was getting out and meeting people and then there was also Prompto …

She decided to start taking down some of the halloween decorations, leaving up the ones that could cover for Fall and Thanksgiving. A box of Christmas decorations turn up but Liz wasn’t going to put those up just yet she wanted to at least wait til Thanksgiving before she started decorating for Christmas.

When she’d finished decorating, she turned her attention to the photo display board that she’d set up to highlight photos of Fandom. She’d set aside some photos from the carnival and the dance to put on there and so she was now focusing on arranging them.
