There were a few new residents, and with a new semester starting you never knew what someone might need, so Jon was taking this opportunity to both check out the building a bit and make himself available to everyone. He'd even brought a few snacks (biscuits and sodas) into the lobby.

And if he had to be going through the lobby a lot, he was going to do his laundry too, why not?

So if anybody had any questions, or needed to ask about renting, there was a landlord building manager right there!

The Perk, Sunday Afternoon

Newbie watching got boring after a while, so Margo had skipped over the picnic to spend more time pouring over useless magical tomes. It had become a ritual of sorts, more than something she thought would offer them an actual way out. But it made her feel like she was at least trying.

"Two caramel shots, two mocha," she told the barista at the Perk, with barely repressed impatience.

Even trying, after a while, felt too much like failing.

She was in a mood. She took her drink and sank down into a seat, wearing her ridiculously high-waisted pants, and stared moodily out the window.

Sunday Morning in the Preserve

It had been a very intense training session as Nell showed off the vibroknife and the new skills she'd had drilled into her over the week. She'd even been willing, for the first time, to try a little sparring with Marc after her success with it on Odessen. She thought it had gone well. She hadn't panicked in any case.

But now was the time to dig her feet into the dirt, back against a tree, and let the land refresh her.
