hasaknightjob: Steven looking at a goldfish (Steven with fish)
[personal profile] hasaknightjob
Steven, whose December holiday started at sundown that very evening and not December 25, did not have a hat on him when he arrived at work, nor did one appear at any time during the day.

The residents of the Museum, on the other hand, were another story.

Blathers wearing a Santa hat was fine. He had his own fashion and certainly a large enough head. Plenty of room for caps of all kind to be worn there.

The fish and the bugs, on the other hand, Steven was admittedly both impressed and confused by. How did some of them have defined heads enough for the hats to rest? Why did they not fall off when the bugs flew, or the fish swam in the water?

Much as Steven went into the various wings of the Museum to watch and check on them, he couldn't figure it out. It had to be one of those magic of Fandom things, he figured.

Either that or there were tiny invisible strings tied under their chins. One of those. Probably magic of Fandom though.

When not checking on various sized Santa hats, Steven was at his usual spot by the Welcome Desk, ready to help any visitors to the Museum, be they hatted or not.

For some reason she couldn't quite explain, Eleanor was feeling oddly left out of something, which didn't make sense, because she definitely was having the issue where the Santa hat that appeared on her head was just showing back up again if she tried to remove it. So that was a thing, apparently. At least it wasn't too bad, although when she bent over to pick something up or move something, the ball at the end would tumble down and smack her in the nose or get in the way, and that was mildly annoying, but it hardly bothered her when most of her time was, in general, just spent drinking tea and reading poetry.

She wondered if a persistent Santa hat could be a metaphor for something, and then realized that this was why she read poetry, not wrote it.

....not well, at least.

Boc had remembered, last week, Stark telling him about things like Christmas sweaters and Christmas hats, so when it turned out that his usual, well-worn, comfortable hat had been replaced with something bright red and trimmed in white with a little ball at the end, he was....well, it was still a bit startling, if he was entirely honest, but most things were, for Boc, but at least he wasn't that surprised.

And he was exceedingly grateful that it was just the hat, and that he wasn't also being subjected to having to wear one of those awful, awful sweaters.

He did think it was a bit silly, though, that they were apparently promoting the purchase of many of these same style of hats today. He was no economist, of course, but it didn't exactly seem like there'd be a high demand for those today, really.

The Santa hats were back, which meant that Anakin had removed at least ten only to have them return to the top of his head.

Oh, how he loathed them.

He took himself into town to sulk his way through the indignity with the help of a gigantic peppermint mocha, only to realize that the Perk's musical holiday selections also included Silent Night on the accordion. He was going to need a much bigger cup of coffee for today.

Steph practically lived with her beanie on except during summer, so it took her a while to notice that the hat on her head was much more festive and less beanie shaped than usual. She was half an hour into putting together last night's online orders before she noticed, laughed, and moved the pommel to dangle rakishly (she thought) over her left eye.

To her delight, all the display minis also had tiny Santa hats on.

So did Saffron, who was significantly less than delighted about it, especially once Steph started taking pictures of her to put on the store's Instagram.

When Liz woke up that morning, she noticed that the Santa hat day had come around again, which she knew Rain would love so Rain had a few more Santa hats to her already extensive collection from the last couple of years.

Now that they were into the last month of the year, Liz decided to try and get some inventory done and work out any additional orders that they needed to place for the new year.
